Finished reading Starfish (Rifters 1).

A )That ending was unexpected.

B ) This was so well written, I could actually feel my ears pop when he was describing underwater pressures.

C ) Every time I finish a Peter Watts book, I get all nihilistic and depressed for a month, which is sad because I love the books themselves but I really cannot see a way out of thevh hellish future he describes.

I can't decide whether to recommend the rest of the trilo to you or warn you away from them.

I recommend them. Two takes you away from the ocean but the final two take you back. I think they are brutal, brilliant, and beautiful - definitely one of my favorite series.

Finished " The Shadow Throne". I'm genuinely shocked how much I liked this book. This series went from "follow whenever" to "insta-buy the mmpb cuz I want to know what's next dammit".

The revolution setting really worked. The PoV characters developed well, and I really liked Raesinia as the new lead. There's a lot of potential in this series. Pacing was spot on, the language was simple, but totally fitting. Gonna be grabbing vol 3 in June.
Keeping the action-packed adventure theme going for commute, next up is "Ace of Skulls", the final Ketty Jay book.

At home I'm not done with "Neverwhere" yet due to overall lack of time. Liking it so far.

Finished Jemisin's The Killing Moon the other day. Liked it, though, from a critical point of view, I though it wasn't taken to its full potential. Some memorable scenes and concepts, though.

Now reading Roger Zelazny's This Immortal, my first Zelazny. Ah, sci-fi from the 60s.

The sequel to The Killing Moon takes things quite a bit further.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Soon you'll be using it instead of a comma.

It may be a award winner but This Immortal can't hold a candle to Lord of Light and is a lot less fun then Amber if one is going into Zelazny.

75% through saints blood, book 3 of the greatcoats by Sebastian De Castell.

I agree with the sentiments that book 1 was the best, but its still swahbuckling great fun.

To be honest, 'fun' is not what I picked it up for (or most other books). Though Lord of Light is on the TRP, somewhere.

In any case, I'm enjyoing it and it's short enough to bridge me over to when FoL finally drops on my doorstep.

Reading through Silverthorn at a quick pace. The Riftwar books have been a lot more fun with a lot more depth than I assumed they would be/have so far.

Riftwar books are great.
I'd HIGHLY recommend reading the empire trilogy (co-authored with janny wurts) after a darkened at sethanon. Then read the novella Honoured Enemy, its my favourite Feist novel.

After that the debate rages, I would suggest reading everything up to Rage of a demon king, chronologically that is, excepting the jimmy the hand novels, and tear of the gods. Then stop and never pick up a feist book after that.
Except to reread obviously.

Others have different suggestions

So far Fall of Light is predictably dense, heavy and a little tough going. Good. So much foreshadowing!

So a weird thing happened to me today. A rather eccentric, but extremely generous relative of mine dropped in. It turns out that he had recently jumped onto the audiobook bandwagon with a vengeance and purchased literally stacks of audiobook CDs. (Very very rich)

Among this collection are the Witcher books

So it turns out he does not like fantasy and knowing what I read, just gave me these CDs.

The Witcher books have me stumped. I thought they were game-based books? Does anyone know the read order? There seem to be 5 of them.

Also how do you listen to audiobooks? I don't think its possible to do anything else during this time?

Yeah, they go in order, and the first book is kind of a loosely collected set of short stories linked together. SWORD OF DESINY feels like that too...BLOOD OF ELVES felt like the first full novel story to me.

LAST WISH
SWORD OF DESTINY
BLOOD OF ELVES
TIME OF CONTEMPT
BAPTISM OF FIRE

so far.

As for how to listen, if I'm doing audiobooks I do so on my way to work and yeah I normally don't read any traditional books while doing so.

Oh and they games are based on the books, not the other way round.

Witcher books are terrific. The games take place long after the books conclude.

Audio books are indeed best on commutes or if doing routine household chores.
