I finally finished my listen of HERETICS OF DUNE. That book took the series to some interesting places, some of them good and some of them not so much. The heavily increased focus on sex took away from the book for me a little, but it was worth it for the "Oh holy fuck! THAT'S what she was up to!" provoked by the last chapter.

Next on deck is Towers of Midnight, WoT book I don't even want to know anymore...

I think you will like Towers of MIdnight. A lot of stuff happens.

Started The Thousandfold Thought, the third book of The Prince of Nothing/Second Apocalypse series. This series might be...as good as Malazan? I don't know, that's probably blasphemy around here. I'm not going to call it my favorite yet, but I've been totally immersed and enthralled by every bit of this series so far. I definitely wouldn't argue with anyone who claims that this is the best fantasy series.

Just finished up Chris Angus's The Gods of Laki, a thriller about a mysterious force underneath an Icelandic volcano. It was merely okay. The "thriller" aspects were decent, but almost every bit of revelation was delivered in the most expository way possible, and the big reveal at the end (and accompanying discussions) I just couldn't buy into. I wanted to like this book--I got the book because the publisher contacted me wondering if I was interested in a review copy, and I thought the premise sounded cool--but it just wasn't to be.

Next up will probably be William Shakespeare's The Phantom of Menace followed by The Clone Army Attacketh, which I got for $6 each thanks to Sunday's Half Price Books coupon. I loved EpV and EpVI (haven't read Part The Fourth, yet) so I'm really looking forward to these.

Yeah, it sounds like a complete shit sandwich. Maybe his UK publisher could sort him out? Sounds like he's bigger over there than o'er'the'er anyway.

I Finished Kurtz's first book in the Drenyi series. It felt very dated. I don't have a driving interest in continuing it.

Oh well, I went ahead and bought and started listening to Armada. Yeah, it's hokey and predictable and his characters are the same as the ones in RPO (same nerd lingo and humor, not the same actual people) but I have to say it is fun. It's not going to win any awards or be remembered as some grand epic but it keeps me entertained. And sometimes, that's good enough.

I'm 120 pages into Green Rider, and for the fact that it's a late 90s throwback to 80s Eddings-style cheese, it's pretty decent. It has the same vibe of Paks, where the protagonist is young and inexperienced, except here said protagonist is also as inept at doing what they're trying to as you'd expect an untrained civvie to be. Based on what QT said it should be a runner.
