I've been taking a break from fantasy, but here's what I'm reading until I get back on track:
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace (this is a re-read) - highly recommended metafiction
White Jazz by James Ellroy - part of his LA trilogy, including LA Confidential, you cannot find anything grittier than Ellroy
Hard as Nails by Dan Simmons - crime fiction, not as good as his Hyperion series, but not much is

And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Man. I thought I would have a nice week to read, but I still haven't had much chance to read. As a result, I am still reading BH, intermittently. I have a good group of books lined up to take away with me this summer! When I have them all together I will post a list of what I will be reading at camp, and people can tell me which ones are good and which should be avoided!

Have at last been able to order NoK  ...after much cajoling and (even to me ) annoying wheedleing (spl?)...only 5 weeks to wait... Still should be here in time for summer hols...how will I ration it out over two weeks though...
'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of Mafia, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about Mafia?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because, Adjunct, they are sheeple.'
Sometimes I wonder, "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" ... and then it hits me.

Do I understand it right, that someone is going to issue NoK in 2007? Bantam or Tor, I don't remember?
Sorry for off topic.

Just Started Kate Elliot's second book, Prince Of Dogs. First eight pages have me in awe and wonder. She vividly paints, nay, brings to life! Her world in which 2 starving children piss in a corner.
Here's to hoping it gets better (Although in another thread Werthead said that it does. I'm trusting him.)

Reading list for the summer:
Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - Susanna Clarke
The Last Templar - Raymond Khoury
The Ninja - Eric Lustbader
White Ninja - Eric Lustbader
I Know You Got Soul - Jeremy Clarkson.
Should keep me happy while at camp. Aside from The Ninja, I haven't read any of them.

The Legend of Deathwalker. By David "My Characters are toughies" Gemmell.
I love Druss, he's so cool. If I were a woman and he were real, I'd get him to have my babies.

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is one of the best debut fantasy novels I've ever read. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's better (though somewhat different) than Gardens of the Moon.
Visit The Wertzone for reviews of SF&F books, DVDs and computer games!
"Try standing out in a winter storm all night and see how tough you are. Start with that. Then go into a bar and pick a fight and see how tough you are. And then go home and break crockery over your head. Start with those three and you'll be good to go."

I recently finished The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch. A really good book, which is surprising considering it got so much hype.
