Just finished the second book in the Sigma series by James Rollins.
Did not like the two books that I read, would not recommend.
Now I am going to read Orsons Scott Card's Ender's Game. Time to see what all the fuss is about.

Just finished up the three main books of the Riyria Revelations.
By Micheal J Sullivan.
they weren't terribly good, I read all three out of stubborness more than any fuck given about the characters or plot progression.
I saw the OMG big revelations coming three miles off and proceeded to not give a fuck. From over powered elves personal dragons to cartoon villans this just sucked.

If you like Card more than Rollins, you get to be dismissed Apteroo.
On Topic: Over 120 pages into THE EMPEROR'S BLADES by Brian Staveley and I continue to not only be impressed, but this may be the debut book of 2014. Utterly compelling and enthralling so far. World building is big, but Staveley cleverly avoids large infodumps by tying it into character progression.

Going through On The Steel Breeze by Reynolds and must say this one caught me nearly immidiatly with its connection to Blue Remembered Earth damn shame he hasn't finished the third book yet
Might have to go for Revelation Space next instead as this Alastair Reynolds fellow seems to write pretty good books...

I've read all his books and then listened to each again. He is far and away my favorite sci-fi author. I even liked Century Rain which many say is his worst book (no source available). I'm currently finishing a House of Suns re-listen.
Also listening to Dirty Streets of Heaven (which is great) and the Emperor's Blades - so far so good (only 4 hrs in). I've read maybe ten pages over the past week so my progress in Annihilation has been, well, ten pages.

Reynold's Revelation Space books are just magical. I think I might need to read The Prefect this year (the last RS book I haven't read.)

Just finished Ender's Game and I think Card is a much more solid writer than Rollins.
It's not really a fair comparison though, they are two very different novels and two very different stories. How ever I read through Ender's Game in two sittings, while I kept putting down Rollins books and had to force myself to keep reading.
I really liked Ender's Game. Considering it's age it remains a pretty solid light sci-fi book and the computer stuff manages to not become anachronistic. I thought the ending/climax was a bit predictable but then again, it's an old story that has been done many times since. On the other hand I think the way he wraps up the book was beautiful. Now I am debating with myself whether I want to continue reading the next books in the series or just stop at the first book, happy with the ending the characters got.
Anyone have an opinion of the rest of the books? There's like 7 all in all I think. Are they worth reading and do they synergise with the first book?

So far I'm loving it as much as I did BLOOD SONG by Anthony Ryan, and WAY OF KINGS by Sanderson. Really quality world buidling epic fantasy.
