I think you're going through the second half faster than the first half.

He's skipping directly to the parts involving Molly, Mouse and Murph.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Finished Gavin Smith's "veteran".
Started out as an average "dystopian future mil sci-fi with a twist"-type story, but man, it got DEEP. The ending was a bit strange (not sure if cliffhanger, or just skipped epilogue), but book's worth it for those few chapters in the middle closer to the end alone. I mean, these are pretty average cyberpunk tropes tossed in the mix, but based on the characters, they just work so damn well.
Not sure what I'll read next. May take a break from English books for a bit.

Was lent Vernor Vinge's _Children Of The Sky_ by a dude at work, and it's awesome already The sequel to _A Fire Upon The Deep_, if you weren't aware of it -- I wasn't until he mentioned it to me. (_A Deepness In The Sky_ is a prequel.)
I read Children of the Sky a few months ago. I enjoyed it a lot, though not half as much as A Fire Upon the Deep - I didn't really feel it required a sequel, but it was fun to catch up with those characters again. A Deepness in the Sky is the next SF book up on my TRP, really looking forward to that one
I'm about halfway through Prince of Thorns at the moment.

Finished Caine Black Knife yesterday and it was awesome. The things I didn't like about Blade of Tyshalle are completely forgotten now and I'm really looking forward to reading Caine's Law, which I'm starting today

Finished Nights of Villjamur and thought it was fantastic. I'm surprised this series isn't more popular. Lots of well drawn characters with their own agendas, and it's satisfying seeing how those agendas affect the other characters. Interesting world too.

Finished Ghost King by Gemmell last night. Apparently I'm a sucker for some alternate Arthurian myth as of late.
In other news, Blood of Tyrants by Naomi Novik came in the mail yesterday afternoon, just in time to jump into some sweet sweet Temeraire.

I'm reading Wool by Hugh Howey and it's pretty immense. It's got that zeitgeist-making something about it. I was rather unsure and took a while to take the plunge but it should jump to the top of all your TRPs, guys.
Eta: Also, I've just had a quick read-around about Hugh Howey and he's a diamond geezer who deserves all your moneys. When people write good fanfics of his work, he doesn't just allow them to stay up, he encourages them to sell the stories their own self. And advertises them for them on his blog. Top guy.

Seriously? ...because it sort of sounds like a cross between THE ISLAND flic and THE HUNGER GAMES in the marketing and I was a bit skeptical.
