Yeah I'm alive... just moved states and in a new job that doesn't leave a great deal of time for anything, let alone browing the great net...
Vector Calc huh, simple... easy peasy stuff, or at least that is my memory from eight years ago... though I qualify that with the comment that I thought one night sufficient to study for the exam, and I certainly would be a little puzzled by VC and MDC these days.

Finished reading Look to Windward by Iain Banks. Best of his SF books i've read so far. Though the very end coulda been better.

@Murrin - Gormenghast can be a tough slog, but hope you like it as much as I did! Nobody evokes atmosphere like Peake.
Recently finished Hawkwood's Voyage - kinda lost interest about halfway through, then wound up really liking it by the end. Now gotta hunt down the rest of the series...
Currently about halfway through RJ's New Spring (after 18 months of sitting in my to-read pile). Really hoping this would add some new dimension to WoT and get me back into the series, but so far, it ain't working...

Gene Wolfe's 'Claw of the Conciliator'. Heard so many people raving on about Wolfe here that I thought I'd give him a try. Not bad so far, not fantastic either...
