Still prefer the UK, but it doesn't look half-bad zoomed in on the Hounds like that with Karsa in the foreground.

- Abyss, didn't think bloodwood was actually that red, though. ;)

I was thinking mahogany myself, but it looks good, nonetheless.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Hmm,looks like the Deragoth to me with the emperor of the First Empire or something like that...

I like the style, but Karsa looks a little bit "small".
How about a close-up view of Karsa, like Gruntle on the MoI cover? That looks really cool and heroic.

I do enjoy it, but I find Karsa to be at a weird angle relative to the rest of the picture. Definitely better than the other American ones, though.

I highly doubt its Karsa...maybe its just Onrack with a blackist-red (obsidian) sword and Trull Sengar kneeling in fatigue...

Straight from Todd Lockwood the artist:

Hi, Utkarsh! Thanks for writing, and thanks for your kind words.
That's Karsa Oorlong, in the opening scene in which he prays to the gods in the cliff-face.
The cliff face is hardly described in that scene, so I took it upon myself to give it some interest by imagining a reason for there to be war dogs carved on a cliff from times long gone. I entered this series late, and had no opportunity to read the previous books, so if there is a disconnect in the continuity of that cliff face, blame me or blame the editors whose job was to fill me in. But insofar as the descriptions in the opening chapter go, the scene is not inaccurate, just expanded visually. If they are described in greater detail later... well, oops. I honestly cannot read all of every book I illustrate, or I'd have no time to paint! Especially when deadlines are short.

And I've receieved the proper permssions to host the picture, I'll put it again some time today.

to quote myself...indeed he did

...or perharps Ossrec is describing the Bantam version...

look at Post 1 and Post 3.

Post 1 = TOR Version done by Todd Lockwood which features Karsa Orlong
Post 3 = Bantam Version done by Steve Stone which features Onrack and Trull standing before the 7 Deragoth statues
