Howdy, my fellow Malazites, I'm a lazy bugger wayyyyyy behind the 8-ball but I just got The God Is Not Willing as an Xmas gift, super psyched to read it. However, I have not read Orb Sceptre Throne (among others) and I know this book is taking us back to Genabackis. Is it alright to dig right in or should I get my ducks in a row first? I've read all 10 main novels, ROTCG, Stonewielder and NOK. Thanks pals <3

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

The God is not willing tells a new story, is set in another area if Genabackis and the Dramatis Personae has only a small amount of overlap with OST. There are some minor spoilers for OST in the book, like characters appearing, so they have to survive OST, but nothing major If I remember correctly. There is a big one for RotCG, which in your case isn't a problem. So I don't see any a reason for you not to read it, if you don't mind those spoilers ^^

Yeah, the only Esslemont requirements for The God is not Willing are RotCG and Stonewielder, which set up the Malazan Empire's new status quo.
