Somethings been puzzling me. Trull still has hold of his demon, Lilac, as far as we know right? Then why, when he got tied to the wall, did he not drag Lilac back into this world to get him to help? As soon as Rhulad (or whoever tied him there) left, he could summon his demon and go after the party that tied him there, with a vengance.
Why did he not think of that?

I thought he'd let Lilac go and the demon is therefore no longer compelled to do his bidding, but it's been a while since I read it.

Correct, trull released lilac back to his own realm and so no loner has any power over said demon. though i think it was mentioned that ony he could summon back the demon but he'd still have to go through a ritual of summoning to do that, which would be impossible in the nascent expecially considering trulls magical skill (virtrually none as far as i'm aware)

no i think tiste is right on this one, Trull's mother said that Trull could call the demon back, its only that the demon gambled that Trull would be too, i'm not sure of the right word, 'nice' to call him back. I don't think that it is mentioned that he has to go through any ritual, although you might assume that you do...i just think that the connection is already there, linked by blood, so trull just has to will it or something

if thats the case then i think you got your answer.
when trull and lilac talk trull seems quite moved by the fact that lilac is just a fishermen who was pulled into a war he had no desire at all to fight in. so for trull to summon him back, he would just be dragging lilac to the same misery he had saved lilac from.

Plus maybe SE didnt invent lilac till MD and HOC was written b4 it. thats what happens when you write a characters past.
Same as karsa and tolbaki. Tolbaki only kills a few red blades when defending shai'k but when seen through HOC karsa could have easily killed em all without anyhelp becasue his character was more fleshed out.

I'd still sya trull couldn't summon lilac, namely becuse he is now on another plane, can yo summon creatures on anothe rplane? I don't know, but since as far as I recall it's strongly suggeste dthat lilac is FROM the nascent, that it is unlikely that trull could summon him.
Oh and if it was as easy to summon demons as just calling them after releasing them I'd say there would be a lot more demons around...
