Hello again everyone. There's something in the 4th book that I couldn't figure out. At some point L'oric explainst the concept of "cold iron" to Sha'ik. They invite Mathok over. He says the following:
"... Cold iron, Chosen One. Hard. Sharp. It is held before you, and so you reach."
L'oric says:
"You reach. Yes, that's it. You reach. And are stuck fast."
What do they mean by "you reach, and stuck fast?" What do you reach for? And what's with being stuck fast? Can someone explain?

Actual cold iron is sticky to the touch - the effect of colder than freezing metal on bare skin - and to pull away your hand can leave you bleeding.
The metaphor is a commander who has the cold nerve to lure an opponent into an engagement, until the enemy are stuck in a fight they cannot win, and at best, might pull away with losses.
