this has been bugging me for ages so thought i'd ask if anyone else knew?

the pages are 411 - 415

the seller says about the otateral long knife- "invested this one. How to challenge the otateral? simple. Elder magic."

does any one know what the investment was?

And was it Belurdan Scullcrusher who made it? and what elder warren he could use?

Isnt the Investment Otataral, and the seller is saying the way to challenge it is elder magic.

Thats what I thought.

it could have been Bellurdan Skullcrusher that made it/invested it, but considering his companion, it could have been Nigthchill.
Or bellurdan could have gotten some random mage to make an otataral knife for him.

I think the warren he could use was the Thelomen Toblaikai warren. Cant be sure if thats an elder warren though.

Yup, what HUME said, it does exactly what it says on the tin. It is "invested", or permeated, with Otateral. Bellurdan made it, and yes, as he is Thelomen Tolbakai, I assume he used their warren, which, if not actually elder, is pretty damn close.

one knife is otataral, the other is invested with elder magic to ensure that it functions next to the otataral knife...at least thats how i read it

the investment itself...i don't think it is revealed in the book unfortunately...bellurdan did make it, thats quite clear, but the warren, unknown..what warren does he use in GotM?

Thelomen Toblaikai is Bellurdans warren. Assuming thats not Gotmism.
Whether or not if thats an elder warren is not stated.

But with the other Knife I think you might be right, if you are its likely that Nightchill invested it methinks.

"invested this one. How to challenge the otateral? simple. Elder magic."

said in this way is saying that the blade is invested with elder magic, and this is why it can work in tandem with the otataral blade. Kalam recognises the mark blade as BSkullcrushers, and wonders which wickan had earned such an investment from him.

That would be a lovely twist - the cool one in BH prologue being somebody Mekhar - meaning perhaps that the symbol Kalam recognises is the smith's and not the mage's.

It would be good... It might not even add anything to the books, but just another great way SE writes his stories. :)
