Wert has the book cover for the god is not willing.

Chains on the woman. Is the house of chains still in play if the crippled god has moved on?

Hard to tell the scaling but character in front looks more human than Teblor?

Para todos todo, para nosotros nada.

MottI'd always pegged you as more of an Ublala

No that's Esslemont.

Erikson's covers have people standing with their backs to the reader.

I wonder who the big bird lady is. Some soletaken I assume. I don't recall any ascendants with feathers.

I think this might be the character Erikson dubbed the Venus Angel back when he made his own mockup of the cover here.

Or maybe its something to do with this High Priestess of Coltaine who I've just noticed has wings as well.

Only show up on these forums once per quarter.

Find a new cover posted the day you look. Nice ;)

But my money's on one of the Teblor gods trying to assert itself from the House of Chains (which is, after all, in the Deck, so has status outside the Crippled God)

What if this is Torvald Nom and there's finally a reunion with Karsa?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Chain, bird wings (not reptilian), red hair, don't know the necklace symbol... Burn, Gedderone, maybe Soliel at a stretch, chain opens the possibility of a chunk of Crippled God.

Soldier has a crossbow, short sword, scale or padded hauberk... could be a Malazan or any other army.

It IS a very nice cover.

Good guesses. Looks like a Malazan short sword, Dude seems fearless. Maybe The First Sword Grub himself :-)
Was not too excited about this series, but damn, this cover is exciting. Ah, the potential.

I think it might be a Marvel Vs Malazan crossover and the Malazans are fighting Snowbird from Alpha Flight:

Colour palette is giving me GotM vibes, which is very welcome. It’s a good year to have made a New Year’s resolution to finally finish the main series 😤

Grub is a great idea!
Also no idea who the goddess could be. Based on the chains a connection to the Crippled God seems likely. Or maybe to the house of chains instead. Someone new who took over the throne maybe?

The book is set before the Crippled God, IIRC. At least the prologue was well before tCG. The stature of the goddess looks to be like Kilmandaros, or at least Toblakai size - maybe Dayliss. It would be beyond cool if it's Ullara from the Esselmont series.

Prologues timing is usually irrelevant to the timing of the main story. We've had prologues hundreds of thousands of years before the books setting

They look like crow wings, so I imagine the entity is linked to Coltaine somehow.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

More likely this I think with Coltaine called the Black-Winged God. Relates.

The book synopsis does mention him but the chain does make me wonder to others too.
