Just finished reading A Madness of Angels, the first Matthew Swift urban fantasy novel that she wrote under the name Kate Griffin. It's fantastic! It has the classic Claire North style where things get a bit... Introspective? And that makes the narrative a tiny bit hard to follow on a couple of occasions, but the world she has created, where London itself is a character, and the magic community lives and thrives off the magic the city creates, is so richly textured.
I have the whole series so I'm definitely in for the whole thing but will start the next one - The Midnight Mayor - after finishing a fairly short standalone.

Finished Midnight Mayor, the second Matthew Swift book. This one was a lot better than the first, pacing wise and also the threat the big bad represented. The humour was a lot more evident and Swift is becoming a delightfully snarky character. The whole concept of London itself being a character and alive with all these wonderful magical beings that play a function in keeping the city going (e.g. Black Cab, the Beggar King etc.) is so brilliantly crafted. Claire North is a genius, but we already knew that.

I agree, I hope the series eventually gets a conclusion. It's so good.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
