Hello all,

I am collecting the Book Club Editions and plan on doing a little Photoshop project for the dust jackets. If anyone has the BCE's and time could you kindly provide the height and thickness of the books (mainline series). Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have several Book Club Editions. What unit of measurement are you looking for? Inches or centimeters?

And to clarify:
1. Height is the length of the front of the book from top to bottom?
2. Thickness is the width of the spine?

Correct for both of those descriptions! I basically just need those dimensions for the spine. Inches or cm are fine - cm may be better since they are in smaller increments. I need to be as exact as possible but am accounting for some degree of error in the images. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

For context to the project; I am making spine covers that slip over the books to make them appear more standard. A lot of people mention not liking the variations between the spine art (though I dont really mind). I drafted some spine covers for the WoT series and am doing the same for the Malazan BCE versions. The covers will be stylized to look like the Subterranean Press editions.

Here are the WoT drafts that I made:link

Each spine has a few inches of excess 'bleed' that will wrap around the book and keep the insert from shifting. From test prints so far it actually looks quite nice, and is not too finicky as long as the books are somewhat tight on the shelf.

Those WoT spines look pretty great.

Turns out I have 7 BCEs. Here are the details in cm. I had to look at HC and DD a couple times and they really are a hair smaller in height. Also, the spines of my used books are a bit rolled vs squared. So for thickness I measured across the top of the books from the outside of each cover near the spine. (I don't know why the forum refuses to display the data in neatly ordered columns).

Deadhouse Gates - Height 21.6 - Thickness 3.5
Memories of Ice - Height 21.6 - Thickness 5
House of Chains - Height 21.5 - Thickness 4.3
Midnight Tides - Height 21.6 - Thickness 4
The Bonehunters - Height 21.6 - Thickness 5
Toll the Hounds - Height 21.6 - Thickness 5
Dust of Dreams - Height 21.5 - Thickness 4.5

Good luck on your project!

Greatly appreciated, I will be able to make a lot of progress with these dimensions. I have a copy of TCG on the way but am not sure if it is full or BCE. I will post some updates when they are done. Next step is to ID some colors to use.

Thanks again for the info, I was able to guesstimate the other books based on an image post of the complete BCE collection. I finally finished the test batch, getting them printed off to see if I like the colors or not.

For anyone interested in the new spines check out drafts here.

I used some of the alternate images from Sub Press to spice things up.
