We had a smallish thread somewhere. Maybe in other authors. I love this show.

The first 4 seasons in a binge watch fashion are absolutely amazing. It heavily depends on whether or not you become heavily invested in the characters(which can be said for most things).

The cast as a whole completely won me over. Margo is just amazing, and Elliot has made me question my sexuality quite a few times.

I just watched Season 5, Episode 2. It's slow going, plus I'm not use to having to wait for episodes. I believe season 4 was almost over when I finished the first 3 seasons. I had watched a few episodes on Scify here and there, but binged a full watch.

The show is one of my top 5 favorites through the end of Season 4.

S2 Ep 10 aw that’s pretty cool the deaf woman from West Wing got a spot as a deaf magician. Neato!

Marlee does terrific work in the series.

It keeps getting better, imo.

I think The Magicians has a writing staff as good as that of The Good Place. The third episode of the fifth season was such a lovely final farewell to a certain character. It was moving, never maudlin, and the way the remaining characters worked through it progressed the story and still felt true to them.

Yes, the camp sometimes spikes high - but every time, they manage to leaven it with real emotions and always brings the through line back to everyone realizing Fillory is just all kinds of fucked up and the extreme drama is a built-in part of effectively dealing with this crazy shit.

I would say the only downbeat thing that I observe is that they keep bringing the Physical House setting back (probably for budget reasons). It feels like all of the characters have firmly moved on past the Physical House and looping back there doesn't feel right anymore.

Really sad about this. The show drove itself past the books and was the better for it. The writing staff is truly top notch and the actors matched that level.

I am looking forward to what the ending will be like.

This breaks my heart. I really like this show.

Yet...I'll b3 the first to admit that The Magicians lost too much of their stage magic when

But I LOVE watching Eliot and Margo.

I don't think the show lost momentum when that character went away. The episode I mentioned above (S5,E3) was such a good way to show that the others still felt the loss, yet had things to do. If anything, I think the realities of show business (raises for everyone past a certain number of episodes) and not stellar viewer numbers meant that getting another season would be very difficult to justify financially. I'd like to ask Werthead if he can get more on that.

Season 4, episode 10 "All That Hard, Glossy Armor" is beyond brilliant.

I'm not caught up yet — at S05E09. The finale was last night.

I'm really going to miss this show. I'm surprised at how much.
