Have you sailed to the big map yet?

If you've made it that far and haven't been hooked then I'd probably give up.

Edit: also pro-tip you can skip animations by pressing start and skip.

Even skipping animations doesn't make this plodding game exciting. But yeah, I'm on the bigger map and I'm not into it. It seems like it tries to sail by on the admittedly gorgeous graphics, and a really weird (but mildly interesting) story...while being a fetch quest game. Like no.

I hate this game. About 6hrs in now, it’s plodding, easy (like wayyyyyy too easy), with a convoluted story and repetitive fetch quests, and frustrating slowness.

What an utter disappointment.

If it makes you feel better Trav didn’t vibe with it around your progress either and now he seems to really be enjoying it. I would recommend trying to get out of Eastern US before giving up.

I went back to Stardew Valley instead, and am much happier. :)

I'm finding it hard to want to put it on, to be honest.

It's a bit like a good walk, however - sometimes you don't want to go out, but once you're heading over a hillside in the rain, and the sun comes out you realise it was worth the effort.

It IS a bit of an effort though. Its just with other games like BotW and Sekiro sitting there it's easy to just put on something I know I'm going to love.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Just delivered nuke. Heading back to connect up South Knot.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Higgs was creepy. The nuke run itself wasn't difficult, even though it was across that damn bit of landscape with the ravines crossing it. I really should have put a shitload of ladders across those earlier on.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I'd already built the road most of the way to South Knot city by then so transporting the nuke was easy.

See, that's how I think you're meant to be playing. Once you hit a new station, you can make several non story progressing deliveries back and forth, establishing routes, placing ladders and ropes or whatever, and expanding the roads and shelters. Then move on to the next story element.

I'm just not in the zone where I want to be making those multiple trips though. The Stars and equipment gain isn't quite enough of a hook for me to spend my gaming time retreading steps multiple times.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Got zip lines, wasn't expecting those just yet.

Had a rather disjointed trip through a warzone, and met a mama with a ghost baby. It would have been much better if I'd known what the hell was going on, and had some identifiable goals. I think there's a movie director quote somewhere that basically says, 'a confused audience isn't emoting,' which I feel sums up this experience. Cool environment, but nothing to do?

I'm all for uncovering lore and story as you go (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, HZD) but having entire sections of game with no emotional attachment or idea why you're even there just makes me irritated with it. I wish I liked Sam; he just comes over as a bit of a grunt though.

Anyhow I stayed up way too late playing and now I'm going to pay, got a long day today.

You're going to have an aneurysm when you find out who Englerts is.

That's annoying. Just search for Chinese cosplay Death Stranding. A guy has basically made the costume plus a real carrier for his baby for virus protection.

This one might work.

Is it weird that now RL delivery people taking things to needy folks in isolation or collecting their garbage or getting their shopping are now becoming the front line heroes out there? Made me think of the game anyway.
