How do you feel about not getting to see what happened to Marya at the "start to the real story" segment?

Umm I'm not sure what you're referring to here...

I'm talking about when Marya goes missing and the story shifts from a couple's trip to the Baths to something much more.

She's just... gone and Senlin has to go on.

Oh right yeah. I think the blurb told me she goes missing so it didn't seem that surprising iirc. I did like how sudden it was though. He's just there by himself with nothing.

I think the second Fosser appeared we knew he was a wife seller, ala the book Senlin had read.
Ogier intrigues me, he has enough money to pay Marya her fee and not sit out and work for a week or two, yet is originally presented as a nigh on destitute artist.
And doesn't fear reprisal from the commissioner.

Tarrou was a great character as well. The more his story unfolded the more real he became, part feckless wastrel, part terrified to face up to the wastrel he has become.

I'm tired and not getting my thoughts across well, but I'm thoroughly enjoying this book
