Starting this now.

I like the world building to an extent, Depressing though it may be.
The rangers and the screamers annoy me on one level of being realistically unfeasable for a long term survival, but maybe that's the point, their world falls apart, so do they and as they care out more people fall into the same cycle of despair

I've finished up to pg 400.

I'm not entirely sure what to think at the moment
Was it a clever plan! Sure it was quite near how it worked out.
The fallout from it wonderful, but I feel that there wasn't enough upheaval. It should have been basically civil war. Maybe that is to come. Maybe not.

I did like Theo's admission to Bea

he would betray Bed and the patties to keep his daughter safe, very Caine black knife I will burn the world type moment, with less venom I guess. But just straight up honesty, no self delusion, they will try to hurt my daughter, I will sell it all to stop that.

so it seems my call on Markse were kind of correct. Ruthless company man, but as a left field should an ally for Theo by the end.
The timeline shifting suddenly makes a lot more sense now in the narrative.
Does the world burn and fix itself?
No
Britain is still fucked. The company will survive and so will Simon, the bastard. But hey, Theo saved his daughter.

I don't know if I liked this book or not.
I wouldn't call it a happy ending by any stretch, but it's a slightly less grim ending than I envisioned.
Overall the narrative is bleak, bleak bleak bleak.
And as I said earlier, week g the enclaves and razor wire house enclosures here in SA does nothing to lift my mood on this.

The message is very much the 'inactivity of good men' and the rear of losing what little you have that will cause this.
And a very on the nose assessment by the assassin of people who love money, not the nice things it's buys, just a love of accruing wealth at all costs.
We are just numbers on a page to these people
