BK was lashing out that none of us Olds (who watched the original film as kids) had made a thread yet, so to appease our cajun friend, I've made the thread. Ya welcome BK!

Note: Show does not drop until tomorrow/tonight at midnight, but it's soon enough for thread.

For those not in the know, here is a trailer:

The series is a prequel to the Henson/Brian Froud film from 1982, in which three Gelflings—Rian (Taron Egerton), Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Deet (Nathalie Emanuelle)—inspire a rebellion against the Skeksis when they discover a horrifying secret behind their power that threatens their world of Thra. Also starring the voice talents of: Eddie Izard, Helena Bonham-Carter, Catriona Balfe, Shazad Latif, Toby Jones, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lena Headley, Alicia Vikander, Natalie Dormer, Mark Strong, Jason Isaacs, Simon Pegg, Awkwafina, Benedict Wong, Harvey Fierstein, Andy Samberg, Keegan-Michael Key, Mark Hamill, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and Sigrouney Weaver....sweet jesus that voice cast in insane!

Anyways, I'm excited. This movie, and Henson's other main 80's fantasy work LABYRINTH are two of the films I most remember loving from my youth, and I'm really excited to see what modern effects and puppetry and such a stellar voice cast can do with the world! I'm at the cottage tonight, and as such very likely I'll be up at Midnight when the first ep drops, so I might watch it then.

Very exited as well, although I don't think I'll watch it straight away. I'm more likely to binge it once the whole series is up. will it just be one season? Have they announced the number of episodes? I assume this is an absolute childhood must watch for all us '80ies kids.

Wait it’s going to be weekly episodes or something?

No, as far as I know the entire season drops at Midnight.

First episode done.

It’s REALLY well done! And they are a solid hour (not the 43min hour as regular tv is) and ten eps, so ten solid hours of content.

Anyways, liking it a lot so far. Hamill is knocking it outta the park as per usual.

Should I watch the film again first as I cannot remember it?

You don’t need to as this is a prequel series.

Whoa, that's really exciting! I can't wait to dive in, hopefully this weekend.

Man, I'm so glad you gave the movie a shot and then enjoyed the show. I've only watched 1 ep so far and it was incredible. Way more massive in scope than I was even expecting.

Man I was a total couch potato yesterday and watched the entire thing. Near perfect, lived up to all my expectations and then some.

I've watched 4 episodes so far. It's pretty good. The visuals are top notch. I like the expanded cast of characters. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

I loved the series.

If you haven't yet, give the "Making of" a watch afterwards, a really cool look into everything.

I finished the series. I'm a little confused.

I also think they need to work on a little more CGI with the Gelfling faces, since they so resemble human faces. After 10 hours I found the emotional connection a little flat.
