What are your favorite ways to 'beat the heat', folks?

Making fruit popsicles is a good way to cool down for a bit. If that's too difficult, get some healthy popsicles instead.

My family still does the close every blind, draw every shade during the day, and then open all the windows in the evening to get cross breezes going. Hundred plus year old houses have to be adapted to.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Redneck swamp cooler - find that big salad bowl that you only bring out for when you are feeding a large group, fill it with ice. Grab a fan and two of those old school tv trays. Zero in optimal placement in room, place fan on one tv tray, and place big salad bowl full of ice in front of fan on the other tv tray. Turn fan on high. Strip down into your most unmentionable of unmentionables and breath out a big satisfying "ahhhhhhhhhhhh".

Also, I've found eating very spicy food helps. I think food anthropologists have determined that is why, from antiquity, cultures in the tropic latitudes augmented their diets with spicy (hot peppers) seasoning.

Light natural fibre clothing.
Maximise through breezes.
Drink lots of water, with some electrolytes if you're sweating a lot.
Move slowly, or at least don't doing anything too active.
Stay in the shade.

And aircon, of course. :)

It's making news over here too:

I want to poke some fun at you, but those kinds of temps are just shitty. Even for us. So stay cool.

By that time what little that is left will be fought over by the Chinese and Russians.

It gets better:

"Incredibly, one newspaper even warned women not to insert ice blocks into their vagina in a bid to keep cool.

"There are many things that should never go near a vagina and ice lollies are up there. The ice can stick to the delicate skin of the vagina and cause real trauma and damage," Dr Sarah Welsh, the co-founder of HANX condom brand told Metro."

@Apt

When shelfing an iceblock, it is best to wait until it melts before gently removing the stick and hopefully avoiding splinters.

EDIT: rather enjoying the juxtaposition of the previous 2 posts.

Pretty much.

My only ways to deal are drinking lukewarm tea (cause I can't drink cold stuff, yay), taking pain killers (because I get headaches at anything above 30 for more than two days) and not leaving the house. Also, my trusty fan is helping some. We don't have shit like AC here except in some shops and there it's turned up so high it's too cold for me to remain for longer than absolutely necessary. The last thing I need right now is to aggravate my throat again after I just spent two weeks coughing my lungs out and trying to keep a bronchitis away. Fun times.

How hot?

30C plus, if you are outside, you need an umbrella, carry a bottle of water, wear light clothing. When home cool off with showers, stay in the shade, maximize all breeze potential.

35C+ heat, carry and drink lots of water, preferably also a salt and sugar solution, because are losing a lot of salts through the sweat and you are going to get fatigues and muscle cramps. Try to stay out of the sun.

High humidity - prepare for skin rash and general soreness as you will be doing nothing but wiping sweat.

Universal tips - get high speed ceiling fans, and/or AC. If the temp is consistently going over 35 you will need the AC.

Got a fridge/freezer?

Put your blankets or sheets in there for an hour before bed. You will be able to get to sleep easier with cool sheets/blankets. I used to do this before I had AC when I was a poor dude in my 20's.

But if its high humidity the water will condense on the sheets
