Maybe not at age 5, but eventually they're going to become interested in watching streamers/casters if they have friends that watch them. You can try to blanket ban it, but as Apt pointed out there are a plethora of mirrors and workarounds to get around Youtube or Twitch blocks - much easier to get around a website block than one for an installed program/app. There are family-friendly streamers/casters out there, might be worth researching some so you can guide/shape the kids' viewing rather than just stomping on it altogether and make them feel like they need to circumvent you, I dunno.

Oh they had you tube and it became a thing and then got deleted from their tablets. That shit isn't going back on for at least a year. Hopefully 3. My son would watch hours and hours of streamers playing games.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

One moment they're watching fortnite videos only for Youtube to suggest an hour long white supremacy video blog.

Jesus H. Christ, you click on ONE Joe Rogan video and suddenly your recommended feed is full of nazis and assholes.

I sometimes think it isn't games, but youtube that should be kept away from children.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

You all are awesome. Thank you for all the great ideas.

Yeah, I have basically 2 separate situations. My boys are on the younger side of that spectrum and much easier to manage. But I only see them on non school time frames (e.g. Spring Break or 3-day weekends). We usually play minecraft together on my own private realm, so no concerns. They have their own Fyres, but in general they only use those at their mom's place. We watch YouTube together, but they don't really watch it on their own.

The step daughters are a whole 'nother ball of wax altogether. They are on the older side of the age range and have already created facebook accounts secretly, watch YouTube on their own (and upload their own videos of self created animations), and stay up all night playing games on their tablets. This is largely because their idiot birth father thought it was a good idea to get them cell phones. My wife and I are trying to mitigate the damage (hence the thread), but so far it has been taking away devices, neutralizing accounts, checking their devices, and bringing down heavy punishments for sneaking in to steal their confiscated devices.

Get a good wifi router (google mesh network is very nice) that allows for you to disable specific devices. Then kill the kids devices at a specific time. Tell them that they are going to be dead. Explain that sending naked pictures of themselves is a felony and even minors can be charged with distribution of child porn. Demand to be added to their facebook accounts. If not then contact FB and have the accounts killed. Minors aren't allowed to have accounts I believe. Personally I would put Spyware on the phones. I will be doing that to my kids when they get phones. Tough shit about it. If they won't sneak then fine. As long as everything that they are doing is in the open. If they sneak then I would assume the worst and treat them as such until they earn the trust back by being open.

Wouldn't you just create a support character and multi-box and have your kid cast supporting buffs/heals on you...seems like a solid plan to me.
