Up the rooftops, bite down blue candy (reduce vitality damage), jump on boss to take one dot, then quickly target gunners. Then run away, heal, and come back to finish him.

BK, did you buy the skill that restores some health with every Deathblow? For me, that's been key to survival the entire game (it was the very first skill I worked for, I think it's a tier 3 in the Shinobi tree?)

Those gunners take 2 hits before they can be taken out, and each death recovers about 1 bullet's worth of damage, so it's possible to take out all 4 without taking too much damage from the boss.

You know you can deflect bullets, right?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Sorry just making sure you weren't getting shot without knowing you can block it.

Don't worry about finesse, I was getting shot to bits by snake eyes regardless of blocking. And then instead of doing a nice set of perfect deflects and hits, I lured her into a poison pool, hid under my iron umbrella while she shot at me and watched while she died of poisoning.

Well you know, when From gives you a treat like this it would be silly to pass it up.

Whoa I did not even notice that vendor sitting right there at the Dilapidated Temple. Selling a gourd.

Right, 9 gourds now. One more prayer bead needed to get my 6th Necklace.

New ninjitsu skill is really fun - puppeteer. You can deathblow someone and they wander round killing people for you!

So as a test, I just back-stabbed one of those bell-carrying Ogres. In a village. He was having a lovely time smashing up the locals. Sekiro Fight Club.

New favourite farming spot I think.

Umm I’m just noticing that vendor myself....

That has to be from update yeah? I’ve walked here many times over last month and ain’t ever seen him before.

Ahh he’s the guy from area right of Katana with the feather cloaks that ask you to get rid of Samurai. Even funnier I only just found him yesterday as well in that area....hmm

He's supposed to move to the temple once you kill the Samurais for him, according to the wiki. I haven't noticed if he's done that yet for me though.

FYI, at this point Katana's totally optional, cuz you can't open the gate he's guarding from the outside anyways. The way to progress the story is to follow the rooftops trail on the smoking beacons.

Yeah, you need to stealth most of the monks. Or practice your Mikiri a lot.

Edit: one thing to remember is they are vulnerable in mid air (when doing their leaping kicks or the pole-vault move with the spear). You can either shuriken them or stab them, and that interrupts the move and gives them ton of posture damage- plus it disorients them so you can get free hits in.

Holy shit, that
Spoiler

In the Senpou Temple grounds is both disturbing AND deadly. I had to nope the fuck outta there

Once you tell that robber-turned-trader in Ashina outskirts what the samurais want, he starts to sell basic crafting supplies in unlimited quantities. That's gonna come in handy, methinks.

Oh, I'll have to return to him then. I only found the vendor at the temple BK mentioned as I was looking for gourds and apparently he appears by that miniboss he's fighting, and asks you to kill samurai. From there he travels to the temple. He must have gone there regardless after I cleared that area, i just didn't see him.

Finally got 2 more skill points. The game makes it impossible to grind in the same way as DS - you have to find stronger enemies unless you want to spend ages repeating the weaker stuff.

I don't know what to get next on the tree though - points too valuable to waste at this stage.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Yeah, I'm running into that- each successive point costs 500 XP more. This is becoming problematic.

I need one more to get double ichimonji, then I'm gonna try Genichiro.

Took my first stab @ the Headless... it didn't go too well, lol.I only got 6 divine confetti uses, so I think I'll try exploring the Valley to find that 4th bead some other way, heh.

I found the poison sword, too. I wonder if Genichiro likes poison?

He really doesn't like it. If you hit him with a couple of sabimaru combos, he does get poisoned. It might be useful if he then just stood there, but he's still trying to kill you, and I suppose while you could just dodge around while his health goes down, you'd have to re-poison him anyway, and if you haven't learned his moves you'll probably get killed while trying.

I did, anyway. It's like Souls, I die, try to find an item or weapon to help, die repeatedly, then end up just learning his moves.

Ichimonji rules in that fight because you get your posture back - so you're ready to deflect his attacks, which puts his posture up faster than anything else as far as I could see.

In combination with learning his moves, if I was a better player, poison might have shortened the fight.

I'll have to practice Subimaru combo on the dummy when I get home, to see how many emblems the combo uses up- I think you need to hit the button (in my case, the "delete" key, since it's bigger than the other keys around it) like 5 times? If each one takes an emblem, that's a costly combo!

Might try farming items with the balloons as well, since I have a shed load of balloons I never used.

And I want to find another Idol in the temple, dammit. Climbing up all that way each time is a pain with all those goddamn assassins on the roof.

Which temple? Are you at Senpou?

Yeah I forget sometimes the difference between tapping and holding a button. Sabimaru does a combo of hits that uses one emblem per slash so it's pretty costly.

Ichi costs nothing.

Yeah, Senpou, I reached the temple Grounds idol, and then there's a bit of a climb up the mountain from there.

That area is pretty big - took me a minute to think about where you are. I thought you'd reached the main temple with all the centipede priests sitting around? If not it's not far, you can run up the path dodging and grappling until you reach the idol in the temple.

Then when you head back down the hill everyone is facing the opposite way!

I just nailed it, killed a musical mini-boss on a rope bridge, then took on the main boss of the area with only a few emblems left. And got her second go!
Couldn't believe it when I was one hit away and still dodging her combos for the last hit - so tense, my heart was going like crazy.

No, I just saw the one priest in that building at the foot of the stairs and that centipede kicked my ass.

I reached what I'm presuming is the main building 2 days ago, but it was guarded by those Nightjar monks and I didn't have the equipment to take them on, so I retreated from there without finding the idol. I'll probably give it another go, because there's a lot of tasty XP there to be had.

Okay, found a manual in the Senpou Temple. I still dunno how to kill those infested dudes, so I'll leave off for now. (I managed to take one centipede down using the spear combo, but it just cam back to life after a but!)

The rifleman Snake eyes is very beatable. Just need to focus.

Edit: okay, that took about an hour and a half. I may have gone on tilt. Just a tad. His sweep attack is messed up- I can jump away from it, but then walk into the animation too fast as I'm trying to counter, and get caught in it anyway. Also, it's hard to press him, because in a few spots against the rocks the camera goes mental. That made the fight unnecessarily tedious, since you have to keep trying to keep him in the centre- beyond that I largely had his moveset down after half a dozen tries.

And I guess I have to start using the Umbrella right away after? Holy shit, that's a lot of bullets!

But now I got myself 4 full necklaces. Genichiro tomorrow/over the 3day weekend.

HOW DO MY BALLS TASTE KATANA!? You like that?! I liked it.

I wonder if this 2nd update just helped me? Still I hate that I have to rely so much on nightjar slash on these guys. I just can’t go toe to toe with larger enemies in this game and it makes feel dumb/lacking. Only one so far I was able do that with was Horselord. I ll try Viagra later when my Ambien is starting to kick in because then I actually loosen up with the controller/don’t care as much if I die.

I’m down to 7%. No way I’m risking those heals with my shittyness.

I wonder if the other npcs go to temple after quest completions like this vendor did? He is the only one so far that I have done.

I got 5 statues, 9% Unseen Aid.

I have 3 blood drops now, and the temple vendor (who was the last to fall sick , go figure) has 2 more for sale.

I'll burn one once I'm done with Genichiro. I have a feeling I may pick up a few more before I beat him.

Hey Trav, any good latent skills in the monk tree? I can't see them without burning 2 skill points on an active skill...

I've got 6 blood drops now, but should probably use one as quite a few people sick after my last run.

Ment, you'll have to return to that area later after defeating Genichiro.

I think I have to return to zombie Kong.

Oh the temple arts only has a couple of latent skills, mostly aimed at increasing drop rates of gold and items. You have to unlock them to get leaping kicks and high monk though which look pretty good.

I found an amazing exp farm by accident. I went back to the hidden valley area to farm some villagers and ogres, and in one area, when I killed the last one, 4 nightjar types materialised out of the air. I stealth ran to the back of that area; and they all stood looking the other way.

If I do them in the right order, they don't notice me backstabbing their companions, except the last one, who I still get if I jump behind him immediately after the 3rd. They give 600 exp points each! And if I rest and come back, clear the area, they all pop back up again. So I now have 7 skill points to use somewhere.

I really need some gold though, somehow I've run out of emblems and I want to take on the ape boss next.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
