Moving out my folks' house and into an apartment. I may only be there for a year, so it seems silly to bring all my books (even though I dearly want to). I'll be leaving the ones I don't care about that didn't make the cut with my folks.

As is right, and just, and good, and correct, this is Box 1:
Spoiler

Looking a little bare (and this is just bookcase 1 of 6 at my parents'...):
Spoiler

Maybe I can build a bed out of all my books, and save myself an expense?

Alera! Fuckin A!

Take back Republic of Thieves to your folks house.

Or just use it to start a fire.

Nonono, the bookcase is one of many that is at my parents' house already. Alera and Republic of Thieves are both staying there for now.

Edited OP to clarify

Here, let me make it easy for you...

Take the next ten or so dead tree books that you have not yet read and plan to. Pack those.

Tell yourself that if you desperately need to reread any of those other books, you can get an ebook and do so because its much faster to search and you can have it with you everywhere, not just at your hovel that you're barely going to live in for long enough to grow mould in the shower. The MBF is available in collected ebook edition, goes on sale routinely, and Steve needs your money more than you do.

Leave all your other books at your parents' place.

Ten books? That's like 2 month's worth!

Reasonable, except my TRP is about 60 dead trees tall. The rest I like!

Get a kindle! What are you an animal! I used to have a bookshelf like that. Was weirdly proud of it and resisted the eBook change. Then I went eBook and have never looked back.

MBF collected edition. Ill get right on this. Thanks Abyss. As many of you know I soured on Malazan at the end but I think a re-read may be in order.

I have a Boox Note S that I use for reading some things, but I don't enjoy e-reading books for pleasure for many reasons. I also find a full bookshelf to both be decorative and immensely comforting.

The last few books of Malazan get better with every read. I struggled with DoD and TCG the first time but absolutely loved them this time. I get how people soured but they shouldn't give up.

Same. My dead tree purchases now are exclusively signed/limited/special and the odd illustrated ed. or GN that is so damn pretty i need to own a hard copy.

All else is ebook and earbook.

Hence my suggestion to just take the next few books in the trp and shift to ebook.

TTH and DoD were definitely difficult for me on first read, TCG I enjoyed first time through though. I concur though, they do grow in the re-read.

Still can't bring myself to get a Kindle. I was swaying until the doc started on at me about "sleep hygiene" earlier in the year when Dad was winding up to his op and I wasn't sleeping much. A Kindle would just be another backlit screen, and I always read in bed of a night. I'd have to change that habit first I think.

I have an older Kindle and it doesn't have a backlit screen and I got a cover for it that has a built in reading light. I bet you could find both a bit cheap on Amazon Marketplace...
