Hi Folks,
I've been reading The Tales of Bauchelain and Korbal Broach and am fascinated with Emancipor Reece's consumption of Narcotics,I know in the main Tales of the book of the Fallen Scillara and Felsin both employ narcotics to help them endure what life throws at them.
Rustleaf = Cannabis or Khat, I'd say most likely,
Durhang = Opium possibly
D'bayang = ?
White Nector= ?
Magic Honey under Yagathan who knows=??
Idea's please guys as this bugs me a bit.Any drugs that i've omitted by accident please feel free to fill me in.
Thanks

Here's the wiki link on various drugs.

Some additional ones besides those listed above:

Kaff is most likely the Malazan khat. It gets used in Return of the Crimson Guard and Stonewielder.

Uthurl is used in The Healthy Dead.

Khall leaf is used in Assail.

Neth berries are used in Forge of Darkness.

Also Corabb, doesn't he get high off of frog licking too, in TBH?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I couldn't find the slug reference, but here's the toad from the first chapter of TBH:

Quote

Corabb noted a depression nearby in which sat half-buried lumps of clay. Drawing his dagger, he walked over and crouched down to retrieve one of the lumps. Breaking it open to reveal the toad curled up within it, he dug the creature out and returned to his commander's side. 'An unexpected treat,' he said, pulling off a withered leg and tearing at the tough but sweet flesh. Leoman stared at him in the moonlight. 'You will have strange dreams, Corabb, eating those.'

'Spirit dreams, yes. They do not frighten me, Commander. Except for all the feathers.'

Quote

'Bones like green twigs, yes,' Corabb said, sucking at the skull of the toad, then flinging it away. Watching as it sprouted wings and flew off into the night. He glanced over at his commander's feather-clad features.

Of course how could I forget Toblaki Bloodwine :: Here is Bauchelain's thoughts on it,"I am now considering a scholary treatise on the ethical context of Bloodwine.Member emboldened by chemical means,desire like a flood, overwhelming all higher functions,this is a recipe for procreative and indeed non-procreative mayhem.It is a great relief to my sensibilities to know how rare Bloodwine is.Imagine a ready supply available to humans the world over! Why, they'd be dancing in the streets,brimming with false pride and worse,eregious smugness.As for the women,why,pursued endlessly by men they would swiftly lose their organizational talents,thus plunging civilization into a Hedonistic headlong collapse of Swollen proportions-rather sizable proportions-oh ,never mind, clearly I will have to edit with caution and dilligence"

I love how female lust would lead to women's loss of organizational talents which would result in the collapse of civilization..... Posted Image truth...Posted Image
