I have to say the public objective 2 alternatives we've gotten so far have pretty much been my entire list of 'no please anything but those!' . All we're missing is the tech planet objective and we've proven that the game hates me.

Actually no. Tapper, Nom, D'rek and Morgoth are the only ones mathematically able to score enough points to win at the end of the round with D'rek and Morgoth the most likely.

I could also score enough points via 2 SO Imperial and 2 PO would get me there. I mean it's not the most likely route to victory but is concievably possible.

I hate to rain on your parade, but you can fulfill only 1 SO per Status Phase and Imperial allows only a Public Objective. As such, with Imperial you can at maximum only score 5 in a round through objectives (2x PO, x SO), plus 1 for Mecatol.
