Traveller vs Rake?

Now I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before somewhere, but I can't find it and I don't think anyone replied to it.
Are Anomander Rake and Traveller gonna fight anytime soon?
The reasoning for this was that in MT Feather Witch says the Knight of the Dragon Hold will come face to face with his own Vengeance (I know it doesnt say that exactly). I have to say the line in MT bypassed me until I read it on this forum, but given that Traveller has Rake's sword and Rake is/could be the Knight of the Dragon Hold, it seems a fairly large hint and, more to the point, who would win?

You know I never even thought of that, didn't re-read MT on my last re-read of the series. I might have thought about it when I first read MT but I was assuming it was alluding to the breaking of Dragnipur, I had completely forgotten about Vengeance being in the hands of Traveller. I bet that would be a good show down.

I think it was mentioned first in a 'Who will die before the end?' thread, and that Rake was going down to Dassem.
But what would he do with Dragnipur if he got it? Help shatter it? Try and kill Hood?
But anyway I think Rake would beat him.

If Traveller is Dassem and I believe he is.. Rake would so get his ass kicked

Er... why's that? Rake IS, after all, the all-powerful-and-unbeatable-cool-long-haired-dude-with-the-big-sword yunno
And Dassem is, with all his Dassemness, just a man

Surely everyone wants to see Rake and Silchas Ruin reunite (and kick some arse in a general sort of way) , so could SE let Anomander Rake be killed by Traveller?

I don't think they'd get along well though. Too much time, too many things have happend and all that...

Have you read NoK ? Besides, Dassem is Dessembrae, an ascendant.

I haven't :/ A bit too expensive for me and too hard to order from where I live anyway
But if that part about him being Dessembrae is not in NoK, then it's not at all certain.

I think they would get on along as well as Rake gets on with anyone (i.e. not too much- I don't think a pub crawl would be on the cards), and he did try and save Silchas Ruin after all...
but I dont suppose Ruin would know that, and Rake did go missing after all.
Does Rake need Dragnipur for victory?
How effective would Rake be just using magic on the ascended Dassem?
Or rather could Dassembrae take it?

Dassem=Dessembrae is mentioned in MoI, K'rul talking to Lady Envy.

I've read it only once and don't really remember such dialogue but I DO believe I'd have noticed :/ Can you quote it if it's not too much of a work?

Fiddler (in HoC or DHG) mentions the Lord of Tragedy, Dassembrae, and then adds, "The cult of Dassem".
Dont have the books for a quote sorry.

But will the fight happen!?
And another thing: when Krul is talking to Envy and says the loss of the (Dassem) First Sword Reborn was a bit bobbins, what was he originally then?
Someone not hard enough to beat Rake, it would seem...

Patch: you're an evil man.
Roland: MoI PB p.327
Am I, she wondered, to blame for Dassem Ultor's loss?
Hood alone could answer that question, Lady Envy. And he'd likely lie, in any case. Dassem, his Champion - Dessembrae - had grown to rival his power.

As a new member, I don't want to interrogate you too much Patch, but just how far ahead have you read? I have looked at most of this site but cant find release dates for the books after Bonehunters, but on http://en.wikipedia..../Steven_Erikson it says 2006 for Reapers Gale. Have you read anything from that then?
I might be ahead of myself here (!): has any of it been written?

SE has started to write Repear's Gale. Patch is a good friend of his, MT is dedicated to him;)
And yes...you ARE getting ahead of yourself:D

I only asked to see how far ahead he was. By that we can say Rake and traveller dont fight in the next one, but will it happen?! Surely one or two big names will be killed before the end, and Rake and Dassem (if he is Traveller) are two big names.
And they are (possibly) destined to fight. Or prophesised.
Or something.
