I have held off on commenting on this as I am not exactly the best example of a Mafia player, but I think its perfectly possible to play even with odd time differences or job issues.

Due to the huge time difference I have with the rest of the forum, the only times of the day when I am active with a whole bunch of others is usually very early in the morning - around 5 to 8 and then again in the evening - post 7 onwards. The hours of peak activity are when I am sleeping, post midnight for me. And due to the nature of my work, I never ever play when I am not at home. I have tried to make this work, it is a major cause of why I am always a low poster, but its still possible.

Speaking for myself, I would be very sad to see this forum go. Its my first internet hangout spot. There are other places for fantasy book discussions, but the companionship and welcoming spirit I find here is unique. I don't like the bigger communities like Westeros or 17th Shard.

Mafia participation is definitely linked to overall forum activity.

The forums are a lot quieter than they used to.be, ergo there is a smaller pool to get players from, and of the remaining base how many are as active as they used to be.

It's a natural cycle, personally I'm amazed at how some of you were able to play game after game after game, on two fronts, one being time to play constantly at the pace some of you play and two being how you just didn't burn out on interest.

Possibly a short break from mafia would let everyone recharge their batteries, maybe work up an awesome theme. A theme game doesn't have to be a tmdi 10, it can still be meat and potatoes with a little veg, just with a theme and setting with plenty of flavour.

I've been sitting on a few ideas but they would all require far bigger numbers than malazan can pull, and I'll be damned to hell if I'll go back to Mafiascum to waste it on them.
I still haven't forgiven them for the way they treated werebear, one of the original legends over there, he was simply too good a player and as he was a mod as well a load of people started accusing him of cheating and reading people's PM's. Fucking wankers. I was invited to play in an old timers/big names type thing game there a few years ago. It was horrible, I actually hunted down a replacement and walked by the end of day 2.
