Dire wolves were real. Now someone is trying to resurrect them.

I may have written an article for Variety on the big fan meet-up in 2009 when the pilot was being filmed and absolutely no-one had any idea who these people were.

I'd call that a Werthead's Original!

For a while I forgot that the last episode I saw was leaked and I was like, "Really?"

All better now.

I watched the leaked ep as well, but at least it means that I am now past the point of any production leaks that I had accidentally come across. It was so irritating knowing a major plot point from this weeks episode because some podcaster wanted to blab about it weeks ago. So I knew that still had to happen. It's such a pity that this year the production has been so leaky, as they had been pretty good thus far.

I am genuinely curious as to what point they will choose to be the finale for the season.

I'm rewatching the Missandei/Grey Worm sex scene and it really bugs me that they never closed the door.

Interesting, if unlikely imo, theory about Cersei's pregnancy:

Thoughts:

1. Seems like there were multiplying redshirts north of the Wall. Maybe there weren't, but I didn't even notice redshirts with them when they left the Wall, but every time someone died, it was one of them, with the exception of Thoros. I think the showrunners are a bit more hesitant than GRRM to kill their darlings. It's amazing that all the other mains survived.

2. Interesting that Littlefinger's suggestions about Brienne led to Sansa sending her away. Did Littlefinger plan for that? Is Sansa planning to harm Arya preemptively?

3. Reused dragonfire animation from the battle against the Lannisters/Tyrells. I hope that's not the only reason they decided to burn the wagon trains, which I still think was dumb.

4. Interesting that the wights are sometimes linked to White Walkers. Reminds me of Myrddraal and Trollocs in the Wheel of Time.

5. Set leaks spoiled the death of a dragon and it being raised by the Night King. I'm glad it was Viserion.

6. I still maintain that this expedition was ridiculous. They should never have expected to survive north of the Wall with so few men. They wouldn't have survived without Dany. They shouldn't have survived long enough for her to save them; look at the ridiculous lengths they went to in order to make it happen. Thin ice? With a big rock conveniently in the middle of the lake? They have no respect for suspension of disbelief.

7. How many times can that same White Walker be killed?

8. The preview is very confusing. Looks like everything's going to be focused on the summit with Cersei (god, can she die already) but we got one shot of Sansa on the battlements and it seems ominous. Littlefinger is trying to set the sisters against each other. I hope they kill him together.

I took the handing of that special dagger from Arya to Sansa as a foreshadowing that Sansa will kill Littlefinger and that Arya is a step ahead of him and so is pulling the strings ever so subtly to make sure that happens. I'm probably wrong though.

Tormand was the best thing about the episode (with the Hound a close second).

The opening dialog between Tormand and Jon was a laugh out loud interaction. The final kicker being: Jon: "You've never been down south" / Tormand: "I've been to Winterfell" / Jon: "That's the North" / Tormand: "pthhhhh".

Pretty much all this.

Also, really surprised no one but Thoros bit it on that quest. And boy does Gendry run fast. And boy do ravens and dragons fly fast.

And wow the King in the North hasn't sent Winterfell one raven? To tell them to expect tons of dragonglass, or that he'll be in Eastwatch, or what happened North of the wall? Tougher to have the Sansa -Arya melodrama if they unite with bigger worries.

This season leaves you caught between two worlds. You get cool scenes. And the plot speeds towards a resolution. You get answers. Three dragon rider theories start to die.

But the plot holes are multiplying and undercutting that fun. Jon's survival was pretty absurd. And while I can see a dragon death shocking Dany, if that was not possible why was it just a rescue? Why was drogon doing most of the firebreathing? I mean, I get the show reasons, but if you thought your dragons were unparalleled, then lets just nip this problem in the bud now. No mount up with the evidence and escape, lets just torch ALL the dead. They actually HAD to kill a dragon, or that would have been the biggest plot hole of all. Why just leave?
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish

Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Oh, that's another thing. Beric wanted Jon to kill the Night King because he probably raised most or all of the wights from the dead, and Jon's reasoning for not doing it was that they needed to take that one wight back with them. Like, what? If you kill the Night King and his whole army, there's no need for proof they exist!

Guy, we concluded something really big: Targaryen blood can withstand all fire AND freezing cold. It basically does both. No other explanation for how Jon survived the episode.

And, like, you don't HAVE to do that, showrunners. You don't have to act like he was going to die. IT HAPPENED ALREADY and was done well. DON'T make him fall in the water and be sinking, because that's dumb and unrealistic, and the show could use more sense and less fireworks right about now. And then Cold Hands? Pretty ridiculous deus ex machina. ALL YOU NEED to kill that ridiculousness is a few shots of 'some dark figure' riding in parallel to the party. Adds mystery, probably wouldn't be figured out ahead of time... I was pretty disappointed overall. No amount of corpse hacking beats a good, detailed, tight story, and the dialogue is finally starting to slip for me. Undead dragon is badass, though. As were flaming swords.

Also: Arya/Sansa. WEIRD ending. And, like, where's Bran this episode? Why does no one ASK HIM QUESTIONS ABOUT JON / ANYTHING. He's clearly a savant now.

I'm not really mad at any of it. Plenty of it was goofy. Yah there were multiplying redshirts (initially two dudes to pull the sled, and the main seven). Holding off that many zombies is crazy. And of course, as Abyss likes to say, the space-time continuum is not important. But some of the action was pretty awesome, and I liked the non-action scenes in the various spots (except maybe Dany vs Tyrion, which rang kinda false).

I'm not mad either; there's no point getting mad about it, and I'm still reasonably entertained. It's just annoyingly dumb, that's all.

Also I meant I'm not mad at it in the slang sense, not a comment on other people being actually angry.
