Well, others do. I would never desecrate a steak with any sauce. Salt, pepper, beer marinade. That's all a steak needs. And butter if you're cooking it on the stove instead of the BBQ.

Peppercorn sauce is my favourite with steak, although diane or bearnaise sauce is nice.

Your colloquialisms will never fly 'round here! Peppercorn sauce sounds far more tasty than "brown sauce."

And I like steak with peppercorns, but they don't muddy it down!

I love brown sauce but usually use it only on a burger or chips. IMO a good steak should be naked, or with a pat of herb or blue cheese butter.

Yeah ketchup not red sauce. Although I don't generally use sauces I still know that

Mrs Messremb will put red hot nuclear fallout sauce on most things, I prefer the flavour of the food as is.

As for different names for bread-containing-meat, well you know there is a difference between rump and rib-eye, sirloin and t-bone? Same with breads.

First you watch your little brother hand feed a steer for a year then when he is away you kill and butcher it. Then when he comes home you server up a big meal of his pet cow, and wait for him to be a couple of bits into it before you tell him that he is eating his pet.

His tears while he continues to eat his pet are what you enjoy as you eat your steak.
