@Cluracan: I also think there were 2 or more "stages" to what QB was doing to Hairlock. The feeling I got was that the initial Denul-aspected spell was preparatory, perhaps a some kind of healing to keep Hairlock alive long enough for the soul-shifting ritual.

Then there was a darker-aspected magic over the puppet-object itself.

Just my own speculation :D

... and here I thought High *insert warren here* suggested that the caster was more than a little bit lazy and had a nasty case of the munchies.

I stand corrected.

Somethign to think about. When Whiskey Jack tells Rake about all the souls in Quick... count the number of mages/hp they list, the numbers dont work out. I imagine this is on purpose so that we dont know the whole story and exactly who else, or what warrens Quick as availible.... *grin* be cool if he had access to Maels warren!

Hold on at the end of MOI paperback it says here denul D'riss hood's path meanes ruse rasham serc tennes thyr.
elder warrens: kurald galain kurald emurlahn. tellan. omotose phellack. starvald damelain
wel this gives us 14 but as we know in those are different kind (like tyschrenn uses) but i wuold say Starvald is out of his option and emurlahn. dont ask me why but it seems to me most logic

tayshrenn is a high priest of d'rek but uses high telas? would a high priest have to use the warren associated to his/her god? would that be driss for d'rek? does it mean that he also has access to multiple warrens?

that was quite a while ago though. To be a high priest/mage/magicy person, you have to especially adept, so if you dont have a priesthood preventing you, you could then become adept at other warrens - like telas for tays i reckon
