Just finished Bonehunters... beginning Reaper's Gale tonight
I don't understand the last chapter, would you mind helping me out?
As far as I understand, Icarium was bring with a Nameless One (Gral) with the Edur to get the Throne. Trull Sengar was there to defend it. Quick Ben tried to block Icarium, didn't totally block him, but an "apparition" put Icarium to his knees. What is that apparition ? Es'erdal or something. What is that ? I don't understand that part.
Otherwise, why Laseen banished Tavore ? I don't understand why.
Thanks a lot !

The Eresal was actually The Eres. The Goddess of the Eresal or maybe just an Eresal Ascendant. I think she was mentioned in Midnight Tides (she raped Trull I think) and she may also have shown up in HOC?
Lasseen banishing the 14th was a political move. Between the time of DG and BH, Mallick Rel managed to get a lot of political power in the Malazan Empire, by among many trickeries, telling a tale of betrayal perpetrated by the Wickan's and the Malazan armies on 7C. To protect herself and to keep control of the empire, lest it descend into civil war, Lasseen sacrificed the 14th in a gambit that allowed her to direct a lot of political upheaval at the Wickan territories.

I thought Mallick Rel was left for dead during the Coltaine chain of dogs, I guess I mess up the persona list :-)

The Eresal made her first apperance in HoC.
Mallick Rel joined Sha'ik Reborn/Felisin in DG, but got kicked out before HOC started. He made it back to Quon Tali, infiltrated the Claw, spread a lot of lies, got a lot of influence and Laseen, who had no longer the power to destroy him without the claw, made him her advisor. Rel helped his stupid buddy Korbolo out and made him the hero in his story, so Laseen had to promote him.
Reading about them alive and back in power made me really furious. Well done SE.

The Eres'al are a race of humanoids that pre-date even the Imass. IIRC it is implied that the Imass evolved from the Eres'al.

I think you're thinking of Menandore raping Udinaas. The Eresal was worshiped by the Nerek, who visited the Edur with Seren Pedac's group. While with the Hiroth (I think), Mayen accidentally sanctified the ground that the Nerek were staying on. Later on in the book, those Nerek were all murdered there, the spilled blood summoned the Eresal, if I remember right.
OP, I haven't read the ICE books but from what I understand there is more about the Malazan political maneuvering involving Laseen and I think Mallick Rel.

Both rapes occur, but the Trull one is in House of Chains.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
