This looks inoffensive for lack of a better word. It doesn't show much of anything, seems more like a teaser to set the mood.

Thing is I think the original is boring and highly overrated as a film, so I'm bound to actually enjoy this no matter how much they shit all over the mythology. Then again Ford has a role in the film so hopefully they do the legacy justice.

EDIT: I think the video embedding function is broken.

The original is a masterpiece Apt your crazy sonofabitch!

It's the perfect futuristic sci-fi drama with a philosophical bent.

This looks amazing!

Define master piece?

I think that Blade Runner is an iconic film. A really important part of cinema. But it's not remembered or well known for its great story. It's remembered because it was a weird and fascinating sci-fi, somewhat cyber punk noir, film before Hollywood figured out how to make that kind of stuff. And, probably the most important part, what made it iconic was the cinematography and the design of the environments. Things like the scenes in Deckers apartment or Decker walking in the rain are amazing. Those scenes tell a whole story all of their own.

A large part of that film is just Decker sitting around or Decker having weird conversations with people, and nothing much is happening. The ending is amazing but the ending is amazing because of Rutger Hauers performance, not because the actual script is great.

I think it's most remembered for its name. For decades parents warned their children not to run with scissors or knives, and then along comes Ridley Scott with one snappy phrase that upends all those years of conditioning. Every kid wanted to be a blade runner. Puncture wounds rose a thousandfold in the years following its release. And then, just as it was dying down, along comes A Nightmare On Elm Street.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Rutger Hauer killing his maker.
Great for what is said and what is left unsaid.

Indeed, it was all about the dialogue and the unsaid notions within.

Apt, you're crazy, I, I like you, but you're crazy (said in the slurring will ferrell voice after being shot with a horse tranquilizer)

Bladerunner is an excellent film.

I'm not excited about this per say, but I will definitely be making an effort to cinema it.

Is it just me, or does the Neo-Tokyo/Asian cyberpunk city aesthetic, as portrayed in this trailer specifically, seem more retro than futuristic? I've never really had that feeling when looking at other gritty cyberpunk cities, but I got it when watching this.

I remember there being art deco and egyptian-like themes in Blade Runner. His apartment both looked modern and old at the same time. Also I remember there being a big ass cyber pyramid someewhere in that film.

Having seen Arrival I now feel a lot more anticipation for this film. With Johannsen making the score as well I hope. I also seem to remember having read somewhere that the movie will be R-rated.

We should start predictions for which films are going to be announced as having a re-make / sequel / prequel / re-boot / spin-off / be shat all over in 2017.

I'm already predicting GoT character tv/movie spin-offs/prequels.

I'm predicting a remake of Gremlins has to be on the horizon.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Oh I haven't seen that in years. I only recently realised that Roald Dahl wrote the screen play. It's a work of genius.

That's a pretty damn good trailer. Didn't seem to spoil anything specific. I can't get over how anachronistic it is though. The world will look nothing like that in 2049.

As a continuation of the first film, it's fine. Since the first film takes place in 2019...and we are nowhere near that type of "world" two years out.....just take it as sci-fi, Alt-reality.

But yeah, as a director Denis Villeneuve has NEVER been one to spoil shit in his trailers...ARRIVAL and SICARIO trailers never gave away anything.

Can I just say how impressed I am with how Johansson has aped Vangelis for the score? Goddamn that gave me the vibes!

94% on Rotten Tomatoes. All agree it's gorgeous, the differences appear to be about depth.
