So I was looking for some Android games where in-app purchases are not really essential - you can have lots of fun without them

Not too action oriented, more like puzzle stuff

I primarily play match three and idle/clicker games on my phone. I just go through what is the most popular and make my way through related games.

My phone is currently charging but I can try and look through what I've been playing.

Is there any genres you are particularly into?

There's some obvious things to recommend like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Clash Royal, Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Crossy Road, Plants vs Zombies, etc.

You said free games but if you like puzzles you should buy Monument Valley.

Played Angry Birds, its ok, but I never got the hype. Played 100 levels of Candy Crush, but it got a bit old after that.

Also played a Tower defence game, not sure what. It was pretty good.

I tried out Clash of Clans, didn't like it. I am into RTS and Clash simply does not have the elements I enjoy

I prefer games where I can stop and think as opposed to engage in frenetic tapping. So I don't like racing games.

Try Brain it On or Infinity Loop (this last one is almost therapeutic!)

I was thinking of puzzle games to recommend but I don't think I've played that many on Android.

If you want some suggestions for paid puzzle games though, I can recommend "the Room" series, those are great puzzles. Technically the Square-Enix "Go" series is good as well, I've played Hitman Go and Deus Ex Go and they are pretty fun. And of course as mentioned before "Monument Valley" is a must.

New one I started playing is called Rolling Sky. You just roll a ball through various hazards to a pretty sweet soundtrack. It's pretty hard (for me at least) but quite addictive.

I discovered Picross Survival in the play store the other day. This is a very addicting game played on Normal. Easy is a breeze and hard is insane but normal is just right.
