Though if people can't even be bothered to use the search function, maybe they won't know what FAQ stands for either. ¬_¬

no more to add...lol

So, you're telling me that the second (or third, or whatever) chaining took place during the malazan empire's conquest of the 7 cities?
Or before it?
I always thought that there was only one chainig...
Where did you get the information from?

The most recent chaining took place prior to the assassination of K & D..
The confirmation that there was more than one chaining came from SE in the Q&A thread
There's also a few pointers in the books about this.. but he's a sneaky kind of author and you have to look for 'em.. :)

I also thought there was one chaining. But it makes sense now otherwise how could Dassem Ultor be at the chaining? Also this blows my original crazy theory that Dassem is Dassembrae but is originally Dessimbelackis out the window.

quick question then...was the CG chained just after he fell, or did it take a number of years for him to colect himself before he could be chained?

I think the second. Couldn't tell you why, but that's the impression I got from the books.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.
