Malazan Empire: crimson guard, again - Malazan Empire

right, i was reading the book, and i came to the bit where the adjunct comes in to fiddler and co are playing with the deck, and they say that the captain of light is rising, and is already dancing on the Kight of Dark's Shadow. (pg 584)

thn, later on, serrat is climbing up k'ruls tower to try and kill crokus, and is stopped by the member of the crimson guard, and the srimson guard person says

"we both know who sends this message, dont we? and as rake well knows, he's not as far away as he once was" (pg 591)

which made me think back to fiddler, and i wondered, is there any connection between the crimson guard and the captain of light?

i thought at first that it was brood sending the message, but why would he be nolonger as far away as he once was?

any thoughts?
