It might be explained in future books in this series, but I found it interesting (and potentially significant) that the creatures close to The Vitr were described as scaled.

First the rats were described as scaled which reminded me of the orthen from The Malazan Book of the Fallen Series. Then the wolves were described as scaled rather than furred.

Seeing as dragons erupt from The Vitr, maybe we will see the K'chain Che Malle come from there too?

Dragons -> still from Starvald Demelain , the Vitr kills them
K'Chain Che Malle -> also live somewhere else, an Azathanai visited them

As currently known both are not connected to the Vitr.

But nice catch with the scaled creatures. Could really have been a hint to Starvald Demelain.
