First time I've not made the playoffs. Close season. 3 teams above had negative season stats, only 2 with more points scored and 5 with less, lol. All about that schedule.

Lesson learned: Don't draft a WR #1. Hated having the first pick.

How does the sacko work?

Is it whoever becomes dead last, we are in a consolation bracket and we have a bye, so will the sacko go between whoever loses out of Hoopers Troopers and Password is Taco versus whoever loses out of ZoomZoomZoom and Big Hat No Heart?

If you look at round 1 and 2 in our draft you will find that the WR was a safer pick than RBs, but with so few good RBs it is much more important to hit on a good RB or 2.

I made the playoff from last draft spot. MUCHO PROUD!

Round 12 Jordan Howard by HD who dropped him for Password is Taco

These basically make up the top 25 W/R/T scorers. With 16 out of the 25 being RB's, and the top 5 all being RB's.

This year the running game has been massive, but the most important position in Venge's team was QB, Drew Brees consistent high scores.

Picking the best QB is vitally important I think. Venge has had decent QB's the last few years, and they scrape him through games :(

Everyone else seem to be pretty even.

Yes, no, yes, no, but.
Your numbers are in isolation, based on a single year. This year's draft was arguably the first one that really favored WRs en masse over RBs, and it is influenced by ODB and Brown performing as they did in 2015, and a trend towards the pass in the NFL over the last season(s). Plus, the last couple of years, the RBs that would score high would largely differ per year: it is a very volatile position and there's a huge chance of drawing a blank. Peterson would rush for 2k in one year, get injured the next. It doesn't change the fact he's a top RB: but it makes drafting him a coin toss.
WRs like Brown, Julio Jones, ODB, AJ Green and Dez Bryant (with a healthy Romo) by contrast have seldom had season-ending injuries and did put up big numbers each year. A healthy Gronk or Jimmy Graham at the Saints belong in the same category.

On top of that, the conditions in which a RB can be a surefire success are quite special:
1) a good offensive line,
2) a QB who can throw well enough to keep the offense unpredictable,
3) ideally the team also has a defense that does not allow the RBs team to go multiple touchdowns behind, because a team that's far behind will throw instead of run.
4) the guy you draft is going to get tackled a lot. So he better be healthy, or the three conditions above are irerelevant,
5) a coach willing to put all the work on one guy. Time shares are pretty bad for fantasy (see Jeremy Hill & Giovanni Bernard).

People knew a RB behind the Dallas O-line would do well, and they knew Darren McFadden is less good than Ezekiel Elliot this year, but the Dallas Defense and Dak Prescott doing way better than expected are a surprise and part of why he does so well. By contrast, only nr 2 is a requirement for a great fantasy receiver.

Good work, team! Although I do take some credit for some decent waiver-wire moves.

Urgh. Derek Carr, you're an untrustworthy fantasy QB.

I guess my reaction to this season is: meh. I was happy after the draft, but after week 2 it was clear I could never really settle on a good line-up with only bye-week stop gaps. Thus, I never really felt confident of going far: it was a very average team with only a few players with a high floor and even fewer with high ceilings.
When Hilton and (mostly) Ware and Elliott did well, I did well, but riding the WR carrousel was tough (and I shot myself in the foot on WRs by picking up Dion Lewis early. I have less issue about picking Jamaal Charles in round 2 because without drafting him, I would never have handcuffed with Ware).

The frustrating thing is that I more or less predicted Oakland would be good, but expected that to translate to Derek Carr's fantasy performances, which they really, really didn't. Grabbing someone like Matt Ryan a round or two earlier would have made my team that much better, especially since there's plenty of good receivers going undrafted, and there was a real rush on back-up QBs before I even drafted my starter (seriously, WTF was that about?).

Somehow made the play-offs, looked like I had a good chance of doing well against Brujah but screwed myself. I picked up DeSean Jackson (16 pts) but started Fitzgerald anyway (1.20 and in a slump for a while), started Carr (4 pts) over Kaepernick (13 pts) because of what happened the week before.

Oh, can I next season NOT draft at spot 8-12? I've been in that bracket for I think all but one of the drafts (and that was #6 or 7 iirc) :p

Next year if I get one of the top picks again I will be looking to trade down and for a pick further down in the draft.

Someone mentioned this in the first thread for this season but is there any interest, in the continuity we have with owners in this league, of making it a keeper league?

Alot of stuff to figure out, but just checking.

Or we can keep it as it is.

I haven't played in a keeper in ages. I doubt that any of our friends across the pond have ever.

Keeper league for Dummies....

I would be open to it. But it does require more thought and a lot more paying attention then a regular league. Plus If someone is better at picking good young players then they can dominate a league for several seasons. It makes it a little bit more like the real NFL. Not as pain in the ass as a Dynasty league though.

Yes. I would really be up for a keeper league - what about individual defensive players?
