I agree. I think they are being pussies about this. Renounce all titles and run off to be happily ever after. I’m not saying they don’t deserve their privacy, but they are still one foot in and one out.

As they are no longer receiving funds from the British taxpayer the tabloid news will have to stop using its excuse that their stories are justified in the public interest. They will have stronger legal footing to sue for invasion of privacy, in the UK at least.

That. The tabloids have behaved the way they have because they feel they have free rein to do so on "public interest" grounds, which the royal rota system has strengthened (access to royal events given to certain papers). The press are over-entitled and they've already dug her father and half-sister up again for "comment".

Honestly, I hope they have a quieter time and that they get the privacy they wish for. The tabloids in the UK have been disgusting and in a slightly impish way I relish the idea of them having the legal book thrown at them if they try to carry on in "public interest" and trip themselves up.

The simple solution is just to abolish the Monarchy, which is long overdue at any rate.

I'm sure it is a childish sentiment, but I just want to punch them so hard.

[edit]Hrm, didn't work. Oh well. It was Farage and Widdecombe waving little Union Jacks in the EU parliament.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Of course they'd be happy. Their racist little gambit won out, and they are wealthy enough that the resulting backlash and probable recession won't hurt them one bit.

I started watching the Farage doc on Ch4 last night and had to stop before I smashed up the tv.

You do have to wonder, really. On one side, you have the EU. On the other side, you have Farage, Widdecombe, Johnsson, Gove, and Ress-Mogg.

I thought people in the UK grew up with pantomime, but clearly something must have gone terribly wrong when the majority of the UK is shouting 'Behind you!' to the Farage side. A more obvious pantomime villain than Ress-Mogg is not imaginable.

I think it just serves to evidence that there is a large amount of gullible racists in this country yet.

Well, the thing is that genuinely nobody knows. Although I think it is a dumb decision, at the same time I also recognise that the EU has some manor issues associated with it. So I guess the next couple of years will show whether it was a bit of a mistake or political and economic suicide.

Yeah, I mean obviously the EU has issues, but this seems incredibly reckless.

That's the annoying thing no one ever said the EU was perfect but after 4 decades of an increasingly right wing press blaming the EU and foreigners for the problems of our own government's idiocy.

The interviews with categoric morons has been the post painful thing. Especially because reporters are actually starting to call them out on their analacritous stances (too little too late mind) and the Breklets have no answers to give. Just phrases rote learned from the Mail.

Really, you can summarise Bweksut with Norton Motorcycles which is a depressingly apt microcosm of both British hard-headedness, an admission that maybe this wasn't thought through, finally resolving to the inevitable 'well, fuck'.

Has anyone been watching Cornwall: This Fishing Life on BBC2? I'm weirdly gripped. Proper tangible reasons for individuals to have voted for Brexit to try to save their industry and way of life. They are all pretty savvy and know it was the UK government who sold them out to the EU but they see Brexit as the only hope to save what they have left. Most doubt even that will work because our government are spineless. I think they may be right.
