Now here's a small thing that could probably get missed by a lot of people, but there's a game that's just come out called Vermintide which is basically Left4Dead in Warhammer End Times. Which sounds fucking awesome (though for me it's more like ME3 MP in Warhammer End Times as I haven't played Left4Dead).

It looks extremely awesome. I would like to play it. Is anyone else interested?



(also, fuck Creative Assembly and their cynical money-grabbing with Warhammer: Total War chaos "faction pack". YOU CAN'T LEAVE OUT FUCKING CHAOS.)

I thought it wasn't until next year? I saw it at e3 and was intrigued, but apparently not enough to follow it.

This game just reminds me that no one has thought to make a badass WH40K game yet.

Dawn of War, especially II, was badass. Chaos Gate was badass. Final Liberation was badass. It's only Space Marine that was bad.

Primateus and I have played a couple of rounds over the weekend.

I think the game is really cool but I also think it's appeal is very limited.

To me it has two big detractions:

One, it has very limited skillset which means you are basically reduced to Skyrim like combat minus the shouts and magic (unless of course you are playing the Brightmage). All you pretty much do is block or swing your weapon/shoot your gun/bow. You can pick up bombs and potions that make you stronger, but basically you're just going to be pushing left mouse button/right trigger a whole lot.

2: You will get experience whether you fail your mission or not, but you only get loot if you finish the mission. The game can be pretty punishing and out of maybe 15-20 runs I think I have finished 5. That's basically just wasted time. It's frustrating to see your team go down because of unskilled or inexperienced players. It could use a check point system.

The above complaints aside, the game is fucking cool. The Skaven are a badass enemy to fight. You can hear their horns across the city, they travel in packs or big patrols, you can see them skitter across rooftops in the distance, the lay traps and ambush you. Generally there's a much more frenetic feeling to fighting the Skaven in Vermintide, compared to L4D because melee combat means you have to get right into the thick of things.

You will never feel as cool as when you see 20 Skaven come at you and you fucking bash those ratfuckers to a pulp with your ornate two-handed warhammer.

Sooooo we might just make an european team to casually play in a group without randoms then? :)

I might get the game this week, I have a free weekend so could play and I could use some change from endless EU4. Witch Hunter is mine, btw.

I wouldn't mind a game night once in a while. COD is about to come out though, which I am planning on playing a ton of... at least until Fallout arrives... and then there's Just Cause...

OK so in a shamefur dispray of urge resistance, rational decision making and responsible spending, I bought the game and am installing. Likely I won't get to play it today yet with my bandwidth, but tomorrow...? :)

I wont have a free evening until Monday I think. But you should keep an eye on "Galactic Primateus" I bet he will be in game during the weekend.
