I'm just starting the last section (Burial Isle) and have to agree with Rictus, there's no real meat to Act 3.

Oh, that's a shame. I thought from what you said up-thread somewhere that Act 3 was really good. Ah well, I've only just started it, so I'll find out for myself soon enough.

I think I phrased it poorly - meant the close of Act 2 into Act 3 as I liked the story. Twin Elms is a nice location but it feels a bit fast-forward.

I really enjoyed that, too. It felt like the story picked up considerably at that point.

I got to Twin Elms last night but then realised I'd forgotten to go looking for the cliffs in Sagani's companion quest, so headed back over to do that before going further. Also got Hiravius's companion quest going (just as well, as it seems to be Twin Elms based). I'm kind of torn about whether or not to do the Grieving Mother's quest as it would mean having two Ciphers in the party, which I'm not keen on. But then I've heard that it's the most interesting companion quest, so . . . <<shrugs>> Also went into a dungeon that I think was only relevant to one the factions that I didn't side with, so I had no quest in there, but I took a look and it was full of spiders, so I had to kill them because all spiders must die, obviously - it's the law.

PoE beaten in under 40 minutes. I must've spent that long just creating my character ;)

Just finshed the game this morning.

Although Act 3 is a little anemic and there isn't enough content in Twin Elms to really justify it as the second big city, overall I thought the game was fantastic.

Strangely, overall I seemed to get a much happier ending than most did from a quick glance at the Obsidian forums.

All in all, very impressed Posted Image

Got a quick session, an hour and a bit in yesterday.

Went and recruited Pallegina, swapped out Eder to have her as tank.

Did the dungeon in Stormwall Gorge and have questions:

In any case, may do a reload as i'm not really happy with how some of those convos went.

arg, that means losing a lot of hours of progress (most of it in Od Nua)... I'm not sure I can do that. I'm almost 41 h in, last save before I took that quest from the dozens is at the 23h mark... and accepting it automatically shuts you off from the knights. Think I'll just have to stick with my choice, lousy as it was.

Finished it this morning and agree all round. For me, I think it was the Endless Paths that drained some of the momentum, in that it was just a dungeon crawl without any particular bearing on the story. The ending I got was pretty upbeat. 'Aw' for Sagani's ending, too :) Overall, I loved it.

I've spent a few hours each weeknight this week bashing my head against the Guardian of Od Nua + his Animat healing bastards crew. I think another few RL hours and I may give up and go do something else instead, :)

I think my only real annoyance with the game so far is that Obsidian really should've done more to make the players interested in the main quest. I enjoy the dungeon-crawling, but I have over 60 in-game hours, and I STILL haven't visited Dyrford. And I get the idea that that's not what's supposed to happen.

I almost wish they put some timer before the Watcher thing starts messing with my char, compelling me to actively seek the main quest goal.

I finish this last night and I'm really glad I did. I feel like this game is a game I could play all summer and not get bored with it (which is exactly what I plan to do--twelve playthroughs planned). Obsidian remains, in terms of worldbuilding and writing, one of the best developers in the industry and I've had zero technical problems with my time with the game. Just happy sigh.

I've finally decided to give up on the lvl 13 boss fight. Now I guess i'll go look for some dragons.

Finished Act 2 on the weekend. Once I stopped trying to beat Endless Paths, my party emerged and kicked so much ass it's not even funny. I was only few XP points short of leveling, as it turned out, so levelled, re-organized my party, beat lvl 13, talked my way past lvl 14, and... yeah.

Dyrford quests were super-easy. That Act 2 ending, though... the main story's powerful weak to me.

Got to Twin Elms b4 getting all distracted with side quests again. I want to get Grieving Mother and Durance quests done, but they are both terrible combat choices. Also, there's companion quests in Twin Elms. (I still don't get where Sagani's is. I assumed itt was in Twin Elms, but I suppose I may want to try the coast...)

Anyhow, I like the game a lot. Only wishing main quest was more engaging and felt more urgent.

Hoping to finish this long weekend.

Had a half-day at work yesterday, used the free time to power through the bulk of the Twin Elms content.

The game is still fairly easy to overlevel. Think for my second play through (prolly some time next year, lol), i'll look for a mod to raise the level cap.

One thing I will say about the story: Obsidian managed to design a pantheon I'm actually interested in learning more about.

At this point I've wrapped up almost everything (bar 3rd round of bounties --even more ridiculous free XP!), and 2 quests in Twin Elms I won't be doing- Berath's god quest, because Berath is a prick, and also because I don't fancy genociding a whole map; also Siroc's quest-because I don't have the talky stats to pull off the least violent option.

Finally dealt w/ the Master... took about 6 tries to execute my tactics properly. Ciphers rule! My next playthrough will be a Monk, so that means i'll be getting Grieving Mother in my party ASAP.

Provided nothing untoward happens, i'm expecting to have the game wrapped up by tomorrow, maybe even tonight.

:headbang: finished yesterday. Main plot line really unravels towards the end. I kind of suspected the big reveal before the end, but didn't find it having THAT much impact on me.

I dunno, the journey seemed better than the destination. That could ofc just be super-neat meta-commentary to dovetail with my choices.

Overall, i'm glad I helped to Kickstart it, glad it exists. In the end, that's what matters, I suppose?
