I'm just in it for the gratuitous spanking. If they don't hit a one spank per episode average I might bail out early.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Now there's a couple of sentences that just beg to be taken out of context. ;)
"Fortune favors the bold, though statistics favor the cautious." - Indomitable Courteous (Icy) Fist, The Palace Job - Patrick Weekes

"Well well well ... if it ain't The Invisible C**t." - Billy Butcher, The Boys

echoing the generic tropey feels.
and teen angst movie feels, ugh this could be so bad.

I'll give the pilot a chance but it will need to have some kind of a hook (beyond the gratuitous spanking) to keep us on board. The wife especially, she's never read the books, and I wouldn't reco them to her given how underwhelmed she was by the Hobbit.

Didn't they try and hide being Aes Sedai too when they came in the books, slightly different approach they're taking.

What's worrying is that they thought that was worthy of being a teaser. Can only imagine that's aimed at the current fantasy because anyone new to it is going to pull a hard meh at that.

I was cautiously optimistic with the trailer, but that poster and the teaser have made me feel less so, not more. I'll still try the pilot, but I'm wondering how on earth they're managing to make an actress of Rosamund Pike's calibre look so stiff and awkward.

It's in the character description, so that might actually be the best acting she's ever dedicated to film or stage.

I'm definitely looking forward to Generic Fantasy Show, I think it's coming along splendidly!

Darkfriends will be easily identified by their shifty eyes. She was scanning the room for the boys though, right?

Full trailer! Multiple very clear shots of Trollocs in this one -- and they look good imo. Dialogue is very 'generic fantasy' but I suppose that doesn't mean there won't be smaller character moments. We'll see. Everybody still looks like they're out of a fashion catalog. A fantasy world where nobody sweats...pretty genius. Anyway, I think this will lift everyone's opinion from "This looks terrible" to "This looks generically written but potentially very well-made".

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I dunno, I'm still getting mild whiffs of Legend of the Seeker here.

I'll still check it out, but while this trailer is a bit better, I'm still not totally convinced they've pulled this off yet.

EDIT: Also the 360 trailer effect is WEIRD. It kind of serves no purpose? Like yeah I can pull it around like I'm watching it on a movie screen int eh midst of some special effects...but meh?

To clarify my 'optimism' though, I would say a book-to-screen perfect adaptation of Eye of the World (even with a few future threads thrown in) would land you a C or C+-grade season of television. If it's worse than that, I'll be disappointed.

And if it's Legend of the Seeker level, I'm filing a lawsuit.

If you turn the playback quality up to 720 or higher that effect kicks in. It is unnecessary and kind of ruins it for me.

huh... still no Loial in any of the trailers or reveals, and there is a clear shot of the group assembled before a Waygate in this trailer. This could mean they have something they think is outstanding and want the audience to be amazed by the character in show, or the opposite of that and they are down playing it.
