The shift to focus on Moiraine may keep some of Rand's more prevalent supporting cast in the background.
Or not.... it's not like this is even slightly limited by the source material. They could have Tam follow Rand around the entire first season then die in the cliffhanger finale.
Then bring him back in season 2.
Only now he's working for the Dark One.
And a vampire.
And has an icky but entirely consensual sexfeste relationship with Egwene.
Who also becomes a vampire.
...because vampires are so hot right now because Sony has that Morbius movie coming out, right? Right???

And vagnomes. You forgot vagnomes.

Just saw that Michael McElhatton (recently Roose Bolton on GoT) is on board to play Tam al'Thor. I can see that. It'll be strange seeing him smile, which I would think he is going to need to do as Tam is not a dour man. Possibly an expanded role for Tam, considering he is rarely seen after the early part of EotW?

Tam is a pretty constant presence throughout the series because he's one of the Two Rivers men who leaves the Two Rivers with Perrin.

Yes that's true. Perhaps I should've said that he's out of the picture for a good length of time, in the books. Isn't it a couple books, at least, before he reappears?

There is some discussion of him in those books because he and Abell Cauthon went to Tar Valon to try to find the Two Rivers folk. That was off-screen, but they could easily make it on-screen. Perrin returns to the Two Rivers in The Shadow Rising (book 4), but we're not expecting them to do one book per season. Once Perrin returns to the Two Rivers, Tam is a constant in his plotline; he had a leadership role and they can make him a very important and visible character without straying very much from the books at all.

I am confident that 90% of Trollocs appearing in the show will be actors in surplus SHANNARA vagnome masks.

I posted this over in the Other Literature forum. Sorry if it's old news.

https://arstechnica....-wheel-of-time/

It talks about new actors for specific roles for Amazon Prince's WoT production.

I will watch the hell out of this even if it sucks. We've been listening through the audio-books, and it feels like discovering this world all over again for the first time. As for Jordan's writing of women, apart from some of the main characters, I've always thought of it as progressive writing for Evangelical readers. Clichés and stereotypes notwithstanding, I liked the arcs the women went through (for the most part - especially those who weren't too tied up with Rand).

Some more cast announcements have been made. Don't know much about this actor. Looking over his IMDB page, I see he's been in a Harry Potter movie and the show Vikings.

Not sure about his acting chops, but looking at google images when searching him, he pretty much looks like a spot on Cenn Buie. Posted Image

They are doing what now? Did I know this and just forget?

How does this make sense?

Do any of you guys know where to find that clip that Amazon Prime tweeted, then took down? It's supposed to be another one of Moiraine, but is a wider view and in the background is a Trolloc.

I must confess I do love watching Daniel get mad at things. I hope he's right on the point about the colour palette though!

Daniel Greene is an unapologetic WoT fanboy. He's a great resource for info on the books. I like that he links to other booktubers who have insight into the series.

The Fantasy News vids he posts every Tuesday are something I usually watch. Today for example he has a link to NPR's "50 Favorite Sci-Fi And Fantasy Books Of The Past Decade." I might not have found that otherwise.

Here's the link - https://www.npr.org/...asy-past-decade

Thanks! :)

I did see an excellent video he did with someone from The Dusty Wheel answering the initial whinging about the casting - link below for anyone who hasn't seen it:

I have the opposite reaction. The photos a few weeks back did NOTHING for me and made me worried....but this trailer was pretty damned good and gave me hope that this will be good.

If anything, there's more here than just another SHANNARA or LEGEND OF THE SEEKER show from the look of it....it's not quite LOTR or GOT level...but maybe they pull this off.

The cast DEFINITELY looks WAY better in action VS the promo photos.

Cautiously optimistic.
