My first thought was it is something related to covid and his stance surrounding that, but if he removed his social media back in January, then dang, I guess he and Jenie Carerawno will be auditioning on the same projects.

I don't know anything about the primary cast (Emond's Fielders + eyez saydie and bodyguard) other then Rosamund Pike, so I want to see how they take command these roles. Really want to see how the Mat actor handles the dagger sickness.

Everyone wants the next Game of Thrones, i'm just praying it isn't the next Shannara.

I could almost believe the Mat actor bailed on social media because he knew there would be massive 'fan' backlash against him for just playing the character, but yeah, it's likely dodgier than that.
Or maybe he felt that the first season is just bad and he wanted out. ...nah, it was a guaranteed payday for at least another season.

I feel like the Middle Earth show is the success waiting in the wings for Amazon Prime as a sub service. I think WOT will run for 2-3 seasons and get cancelled.

I mean I don't know the guy but usually quite disappearences are due to issues with the producer or mental health issues.

The only actors I recognize are Rosamund Pike and Sophie Okonedo, the rest are totally unknown to me.

I actually wouldn't mind if they went the Shannara route. If it's going to fail, fail spectacularly. Make it so bad, that viewers want to hate watch it. They can at least pay respect to the awful by giving us a "vajgnome" Trolloc variant.

Also, people have watched the pilot now (Apparently Amazon was reaching out to people and asking them to watch and give feedback for a $10 gift card?)...and the consensus seems to be "not very good, pretty generic"

Generic (but competent) would be a relief actually. Eye of the World is the worst book in the series (imo), so getting over that hump was gonna be a hurdle anyway.

Indeed. I felt like they might adapt other parts of the story from further down the book series road to insert so that S1 isn't as generic LOTR-clone as that book is.

I like Rosamund Pike and I think she is a wonderful actress. I've enjoyed her in what I've seen her in (mostly in the movie Gone Girl), but I just couldn't see her (in my interpretation) playing the role of Moiraine. I'm starting to be converted. We shall see if this continues.
