Wait, doesn't everyone love a delicious grilled nail-cheese sandwich? It just adds a little extra crunch.

Also, I just want to point out of the 40% of people that voted for the PCs not everyone wanted specifically Ford to win, many could have been voting for their local candidates (which was the advice I received on this forum when I was considering who to vote for).
Now I know that's not necessarily a good excuse since he's their leader but it's something to consider when blaming voters for bringing him in.

Amusing interview with the conservative MP from bay of Quinte.

Highlights include shifting blame onto torontos lack of transit building and decisiveness for causing traffic and saying they can make ontario election with less prep time...

Yeah okay...

What blows my mind is that PC voters on Ontario who defend this...and use the taking points of Ford to do so as if it helps Ontario for Toronto to have a smaller council...

I think that Toronto's budget is like $11.2 billion, and the Council is like $25million of that, and when you work out the savings he's proposing by slicing it, it's like 0.2% of the budget.

So infinitesimally small as to not matter on bit between 47 and 25 seats.

Any cost savings that mightve been realised have already been eliminated by the costs incurred to fight this thing.

Did my bit and attended the peaceful protest outside QP on Saturday afternoon. It wont amount to much I'm sure, but I'm not going to sit idly by and let the government think they can get away with this and NOT make huge news.

Also, some saintly woman brought like three coolers of "freezies" for the collected protesters because it was so hot. She was the real MVP.

I WISH!

LOL

Also, is it wrong that I wished last night the protesters who stayed up and stood outside the Legislature (after being kicked out once again) had sung "Do You Hear the People Sing?" at the walls at top volume?

No?

Just me then. I'm a showman.

Ford is joining the Canadian delegation going to Washington to negotiate on NAFTA (he's not actually doing any meetings or negotiations though). If Trump tweets something positive about Ford.....darkest timeline confirmed.

He got nabbed for impromptu on camera interviews at the airport this morning, and on CP24 Cristine Tenaglia nailed him not once, but twice on things he "claims" the council cut are about and left him scrambling. It was AWESOME.

First he babbled about needing functional transit plans...said "you can't get from here [the airport in Malton/Mississauga] to downtown in less than an hour! That's crazy!" and she rebutted "Yes you can. That's why they built the UPX (Up Express Train direct to downtown from the airport], it takes 25 minutes to get all the way downtown."....he looked away, realized he was in a corner, and then blurted "You and I aren't going to take some train, what are we going to do? Get in the car! A hour!".....he said this...in the context about needing functional transit...which she pointed out existed. He then tried to switch gears to talking about smart track never materializing and needing something like it to get out of council and get built and as he walked away "We have that happening too, it's called the Eglinton LRT"

I find that only a few reporters at CP24 are worth their salt for actually hitting hard questions to people like Ford, Tenaglia and Travis Danraj both do it.

Sigh.

The Province's requested Stay in Bill 5 granted....this means Bill 31 and the NWC are dead and gone...but we are now heading into a 25 ward election...so Dougie gets his Gerrymandered Toronto Wards.

Fuck.

I mean I'm glad that the NWC was not actually used, but Bill 5 STILL screws over Toronto council....probably forever. The majority of the main city of Toronto (downtown) is now going to be held to the whims of the outer burbs that were amalgamated into us years ago...who have entirely different issues in their areas than us...and have traditionally been PC/Ford voters.

This makes me physically ill.

I think the idea being put forth now is an Independent Charter for Toronto. I'd be okay with that.

Rosie DiManno is a STAIN on the Star. Her shit is (now that Desmond Cole is gone) the worst clickbait-y crap that the Star spits out....she got her job in the mid-70's when to get past the wall of men in the industry, she had to act like one, and take on the ideals of being an asshole 70's male reporter, so she did so and sold her soul...this has only gotten worse as she's aged.

She wrote an article a little while ago about how she was pissed they ever passed legislation that means she can't smoke cigarettes in buildings and on airplanes anymore...that such decisions make us all pansies.

She's terrible.

And her articles all read as if their goal is to piss SOMEONE off. That's her schtick...rile people up.

She often tells people to "suck her dick" on twitter...I mean....if that doesn't just speak volumes about the "boys club" she still thinks she belongs to.

Okay I figured out why the editor wasn't working....work computer was re-imaged, and I've been slowly reconfiguring my environment...got noscript on my browser but forgot to whitelist the forums.

Anyways it makes me feel better she's basically a troll lol.

As a country boy born and bred (though urban now) seeing stuff like that makes my blood boil lol......just clearly demonstrates an utter lack of understanding of the rural living. Not that the lack of comprehension doesn't go both ways of course......I'm in a 'city' of 70k in NB........I found Waterloo/Kitchener at 500k to be the max I could stand. I'll never understand why you city-slickers enjoy having 3 million people rubbing elbows with you.

Oh, I don't love it. Both my wife and I are hampering to get out to the suburbs at least...but housing prices in southern ontario are still way too insane.

Diversity and options. Example, theres a group in toronto that organised amateur opera nights at a bar for free. Theres events being organised that can tickle your fancy regardless of what your interests are. Toronto Has multiple e sports bars and a harry potter themed bar. Like sports? We have several different professional teams (quality varies but its to be expected). Work Opportunities? Depending on your field toronto will have more opportunities for career advancement.

Convenient tranportation. I've a friend who lives downtown toronto whose apartment connects to the path. the result is he walks pretty much everywhere he needs to go (has 0 need for a car), as well as the fact he can go grocery shopping in shorts in the middle of winter and still be fine as he never has to peak outside.

You have unbelievable options for cuisine and restauraunts, as well as fusion restauraunts of all kinds. I very Much doubt rural canada has convenient access to good quality food of the following variety cuisines.
Korean BBQ
Korean Chicken
Ramen
Sushi
Pho
Thai
Jamaican
Indian
Italian
Greek
Hong Kong Style Diners
Sizchuan
Mexican
Israeli Bagels

And Im sure im missing stuff as well.

The recent people like myself love the city is that cities have so much to offer. Im currently interviewing for 3 positions. One's local, one's in guelph (120k) and the other Leamington (27k and apparently the tomato capital). While both are great career opportunties, Im not relishing moving to the country as my satisfaction in life will decrease.

I've lived on the outskirts of a town of 1400. I've lived in the downtown of a city of 1 million. I loved both in their own ways, but moving to the suburbs absolutely terrifies me <_<
