It's really smart tv, and the fights are good.

Not sure why people are calling it dull when it's playing both the 1940s pulp detective story and the subversion of that to great effect. There's even a radio pulp show within the show that Agent Carter hates for its lurid reworking of her and Captain America's story.

Just looked it up. S2 is a go for 10 episodes. I thought it was a limited series but it did well. I'm fully onboard for more Hayley.

YES YES!!, All hail Haley! That was a great show and I'm definitely looking forward to season 2.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

S1 was great and S2 will be as well. S2 is going to take place somewhere else though. A different city. I forgot which one.

I liked the setting... i was all into the 40s thing, the notion that she's a better spy than all her male colleagues, the background w/in the Marvel movieverse... even the action, what little there is, is well done... it's just that i'm finding the actual story dull, and the rest of it isn't enough to carry me through. Peggy Carter receives hint that widgit related to Howie Stark is somewhere, looks for it, is underestimated by friend and foe, wins a fight, bad guys are bad, her colleagues are idiots, Jarvis is British... that's pretty much every episode i've seen.

So you didn't get to the point where everyone turns on her because everything she's done thus far could be interpreted in a good or an evil way? They smarten up the co-workers considerably throughout the show.

Nope. Not seen that. Am still at the stage where her coworkers are mostly ineffectual period-appropriate misogynist stereotype G-men who couldn't catch Baron Stucker if he walked into the office dressed in a tutu and started dancing on Enver Gjokaj's desk asking how his name is pronounced.

Yeah, her colleagues are idiots in terms of the way they treat her, but most of their actual work is actually pretty sound.

Has anyone seen the Agent Carter one-shot?

One shot what?

Oh, the one-shots are a series of direct-to-video short films that marvel has put out between the movies. They did one on agent carter, and it since it was well received they made the tv show. There is some continuity issues with the agent carter one shot though.

Not the best quality, but the only one I could find on youtube.

Yeah, the TV show is basically a massively expanded remake of the one-shot rather than being a sequel to it or anything.

Yeah. Which is annoying, because the one-shot is quite cool, but I'm such a stickler for canonity that I've spent ages trying to rationalise it into the MCU :p
And apparently it is loosely canonical.

I kinda thought, after having watched the series, that the one-shot was supposed to take place some time after the series concluded. But if it's only loosely canonical, that's a bit disappointing. The one-shot is bloody awesome!

Right??? It's so awesome! But, there is still time to fix it. It could potentially take place at the end of season 2 or something like that.

Finally finished watching this.

Honestly, did not love. Found it a slog, mostly predictable, not all that interesting. The individual performances are great, Agent Carter's actions scenes at least were fun, but the story bored me.
I watching for the handfull of MCU tidbits, so yah, got those, can't say it was worth it.

I think that ultimately this was a period piece show with sparse superhero elements and not a superhero show, so closer to something i didn't want to watch.
I see why people like, but will probably give S2 a miss.

Yarr, it's not really a superhero show, it's cold war spy drama crossed with Buffy basically.

Really?

Not even close to Buffy for me.

Crossed with someone more boring, sure...but never Buffy.

Whether or not you think the attempt was successful, I thought it fairly clear that Agent Carter was taking a leaf out of Buffy's playbook in terms of the kickass women thing.

Possibly an attempt, a poor one. I don't see it though. I see far more Buffy on AoS between May, Daisy, and Bobbi for the mold and playbook.
