Just my guess: the evolution of magic might reflect the evolution of human settlement. From wandering (primordial earth magic, ancestral spirits, natural sources; nomadic, hunter-gatherer) to Holds (blood magic, settlers with crop cultivation and cattle) to Warrens (K'rul's veinsstructu, but organised/red through a pact with the Eleint; villages, feudal realms) to Icarium's adjustments (similar to Warrens but independent from gods (K'rul) and dragons, instead provided through machinery/mechanisation; modern-day cities).
icariums warrens can someone explain please?!

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
