I loved this book and am definitely looking forward to number 2. I didn't consider this YA; there's cussing, violence, cannibalism, rape, all types of stuff I don't associate with YA. And even if it is YA, I liked it. I went the audible route and the narrator was fan-fucking-tastic. Highly recommend it.

Ok. I didn't think so at all either and found it here at my local book store. So yeah.. Like I said in the other thread, got to meet the author and excited to see if its heading where I think it will based off his comments.

He indicated this will be important in the future. I really enjoyed the political undertones and subterfuge in the book. I guess it's a easy read really at the end of the day.

I'm 5 hrs of 20 hrs in on the audiobook of the Golden Son. It's pretty good. I like that we get to see more of he Jackal so far. I've got a helper working with me today so I won't be able to listen any. I probably won't finish this until mid-next week so I'll be back later for more.

Holy fucking cliff hanger, Batman. Great book but I hate having to wait for resolution. This is one of the reasons I long ago swore off series until their completions. Kinda makes me wish I'd stuck to that. Still, great stuff.

I know...right!! I totally popped off a FB message to him as he usually will answer. Can't wait..i did curse at him though. That ending actually invoked emotion.

Yeah luckily.. I am seeing a end of year release date for Book 3.

I hope to see what his next series comes up with to down the line and I kind of hope like Netflix picks it up..for a show.

I've been seeing a lot of hype for these books lately, after the title Golden Son caught my attention (loved the old GBA Golden Sun games). I went to the Goodreads page and am a little unsure. There are a lot of girls reviewing these books, using too many gifs. Makes me think "mass appeal" and Hunger Games, which makes me wary.

oh geez..girls like these books..i didn't realize that!!..ok. Giving you a tough time

Actually it makes sense there is a really really cool *strong* female in the series, that you can't help not to like. I really like her too, cause she doesn't come across at one of those "archtypes*. I could see women really digging it, cause it's a much needed character IMO.

The mass appeal exists as it's a easy read. Nothing too crazy about it as it's straightforward as it get's....

About the only thing is I don't like how he creates conflict in his series..it can detract from the read and take you out of the book at times, besides that Ill let you all judge.
