Hooray, now I can read the whole thing from the start!
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

“You make worlds, worlds inside your head and worlds outside,
but only the one inside counts for anything.
It’s where you find peace,
acceptance.
Worth.”

Some answers up now with the promise of ore to come.... most interesting quote, let the speculation intensify!
"SE: By the completion of the Kharkanas trilogy, you should be able to work out who Ruthan Gudd is, or was, when he didn’t use that name, and wasn’t called that by anyone, and he had no idea who or what he would become, or even when, nor what would happen when he did. Become Ruthan Gudd, that is. All we know is that he did, and that he went by another name before becoming known by the name you know him by, and by."

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

This was pretty neat:
Tor.com said:
Q: When choosing names for characters which are apparently "meaningless" in English, is there any symbolism implied behind your choice of naming? I'm thinking of Tavore here again: Mount Tavore in Israel/Palestine is an ancient symbol of strength and promise in both Judaic and Christian mythology. Was hers - and others' names - planned, or is this just coincidence?
SE: There are no such thing as coincidences.

Some interesting stuff, but shame about the no-show on D'reks map.
