Just had a re-read of the start of DoD, anyone else think that the owl that eats the two-headed centipede ( and has a pretty gruesome end coming!) was the one that had foreshadowed Trull's death?
The same one that passed Sirryn Kanar on his way to Trull.
I like to think it is, not that the owl really did anything wrong, just seems kind of fitting given the role it played in the "nudge".

The owl appears with Trull on a number of occasions, from his very first scenes with the seal hunters.
It's way more noticable on a re-read, but yes it's intentional, and yes it does forshadow the ending. There's even a dead one at some point - at Serens house? I can't remember right now but there's a thread on this somewhere where I found all the refs. Including Bottle's dream, where he's sleeptalking about him not seeing the owl in time.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
