but karsa is not full blooded thelomen toblaki (like the one kalam found in the well) and so is not that much bigger than icarium who was chucking big boulders about with ease, ones that karsa probably could not lift, so i still don't see how he knocked out icarium unless being the knight of the house of chains granted him extra strength or power (but was he even the knight then or did that come later?).

Wraith... Karsa doesn't punch with a "normal hard punch." He's the descendent of Theloman Toblakai, who are (it seems) really, really, really powerful people.

"beaten by a few hundred humans" isn't enough to tell you just what Karsa's level is? Remember, that's all mundane strength, no magic (because of the otateral).

Being defeated by a Forkrul Assail is akin to being defeated by a Jaghut. In other words, it's generally the expected result.

Errr.... less powerful, the otaral gives karsa an advantage (simmilar to lorn and rallick), hes resistant to magic and heals quicker, without it he would be nowhere near as tough.

thanks for the replys but am still a little confused.

i thought in deadhouse gates it says that mappo's mace has been made super powerful so that it can knock out anybody. I assumed this was the reason he could knock out icarium so easilly in that book and i also assumed that this mace was given to all icariums babysitters.

but if he can get knocked out by a normal hard punch what was the point of making the super mace to begin with.

on a side note, can anyone explain how karsa got so powerful, at the start of the book he was beaten by a few hundred humans and also had his arse handed to him by the forkrul assail, then he's running around laying out icarium, killing TWO hounds of darkness and putting the frightners on a whole army.

also how is the otateral crippling him?

any way thats it for the moment, and I'm still very confused, so thanks to thiose that replyed and to anyone who replys in the future?

Karsa's,

been humbled twice, by Urko a mere mortal and half his size and Calm. He meets Icarium when he's in his berserk stage he's mince meet. Though personally I think he's destined to meet anomander rake and break that sword of his.

how exactly has icarium had his best days?

my moneys on icarium all the way if they ever meet up again, karsa needs to be taught some humility, its just a shame he''l be to dead to appreciate the lesson.

I think not. Firstly in the last encounter Icarium was not even angry, it was just like he wanted to do a job and he would do it.
The next time they meet Icarium will surely fly into a rage and and buthcer Karsa into miticlorians(starwars) before Karsa can even blink.
Just like what would would have happened in DHG. Icarium warned Gryllen once in the desert but when Icarium met the D'ivers next time in the house of Azath he flew into a rage and would have finished him if not for Mappo.
..........................So if in the next encounter Karsa does live he will surely bless Mappo everynight before sleeping.

When they meet again (and they will meet again) it's gonna be freakin' awesome! Plus Icarium will cane Karsa's 4$$ which will also be most enjoyable!

Karsa ALSO is a mortal. And moreover keeper is no MERE guy. He is a napan for god's sake. And if you've seen just what prowess Detoran has even thought she dies in the end, think about this guy's power level. And we are not talking about any Napan, this guy could be Urko crust for all we know, right?
I wanted to know Svaran, how did you assume keeper to be Urko? Why not the other brother. I am sking this bcoz I havent read GOTM and I dont know if any mention is made of this.

Icarium has been "defeated" many times before -- it's what Mappo has been doing all these centuries, after all. (Knocking Icarium out with his mace, before Icarium gets really mad, turns grean, and rips his clothes.)

Had Karsa followed through with his intent (and attempted to kill Icarium)... I think things would have been rather different. And fairly tragic for the entire continent, based on the D'ivers' warning.

I was wondering why the criplled god chose Karsa as his Knight, because surely that would be the only reason for his sudden rise in natural strength which also answers that punch, just like what happend to Heboric and Gruntle. I mean Karsa is not "crippled", he is chained but does not at all care about it as the Crippled one does. More also why does Icarium attack him, just pure ego. I thought Jhag were freinds with his kind of people a long time ago

It's Urko, because Cartheron is captain of the Ragstopper.

However Karsa is far down the path of ascendancy, he has quickly gained a lot of power compared to his kin. Also, remember that the seven tt gods have influenced his growth.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Karsa got laid out by the Forkrul Assail he was still young and growing. And I think it mentioned somewhere that he's still got some to grow.

He'd be less resistant to sorcery, yes... but he'd be able to use sorcery himself.

In other words... how much closer to a Theloman Toblakai would he (and his people) be?

I reckon because Icarium, like the Forkrul Assail, sensed something his "ultimate purpose", except he'd not just been freed from eternal imprisonment, so he had no sense of gratitude holding him back. There's quite a few hints that Karsa is going to change the world in a major way, but most people sensing this are more interested in hiding than stopping him.

How right you are Wraith!!! I too think Karsa needs to be taught lessons in Humility and who better then Icarium.

More Icarium is a SUBSPECIES greaterthan Karsa. Karsa is ONLY teblor while Icarium might be a HALF-Jhag, he is definitly more Jagh than Teblor, even though the other half of him is Toblakai, right?

It just now occurred to me to wonder: just how powerful would Karsa be if he weren't crippled by the otataral?
